hi guys.
ok, i have now decided to give up trying to get XBC to work on my XP pc and am now using it on my vista PC.
i successfully backed up burnout revenge with no errors.

when i try to backup rainbow 6 las vegas, i get a read error at 44%. it gives me the option to retry, fill with zero fill or cancel.
when i try either zero fill or retry, i get the blue screen of death..
tried using aspi mode, slowing the drive down, cleaning the disc but no joy.

any advice?

my setup is:

windows vista
ASUS A8n32 sli motherboard
samsung SH-D163A dvd drive
Xbox backup creator 2.4 (latest version)
nero is installed
Image Burn is installed.

I used Schtrom360   it worked on every game I had except crackdown (used new XBC2.4). It very simple to use. Do a search for it, there is a guide on the site somewhere.

that indicates a disk that is not in the best condition. Any scratch or needs to be cleaned, if not maybe just the not the best disk.

i tried using Schtrom360 but i got a message saying, > no XBOX 360 drive detected

do i need to hook my xbox 360 drive to my pc or something?

i also noticed an option for a samsung SH-D163C dvd drive but i have the sata version > SH-D163A so dont think its compatible! gutted as i just bought this sata dvd drive!

the disc is new and there are no scratches on it...

if your 163a is having problem just with that game you can look at this  post .
Again if it is only that game you can try you x360 drive (if it is a samsung, no point with hitachi).

yeah i think it must be the media come to think of it.... when i play rainbow 6 online, my xbox seems to crash randomly. thought it was my xbox for a while but no other games crashed , single player or online so maybe the disc has minor flaws in it... like i said, the disc is pretty new and i take care of it really well. no scracthes, nothing!

my brother sometimes has dirty disc errors while playing online with his original rainbow 6 game
perhaps these discs are inferior?

im going to borrow my friends original disc and try ripping his one..

i will let you know how i get on with it.

you say i can try the xbox360 dvd drive... do i have to reflash it with a different firmware inorder for it to be recognised in XP or something?

plse,Only backup of your game disk to be dsicussed here,  (no matter how good the reason) that is the rule.
