Can't Get Pioneer 111d Drive To Work
« on: February 26, 2007, 11:57:00 AM »

I'm trying to make a game backup with my Pioneer 111D drive. Do i have to use my 360's drive to extract the game? I'm running vista and have XBC which runs and recognized the game, but won't allow me to start the process. Thanks for your help.

you need to connect your 360 drive to your pc to extract the game.  the pioneer 111 is for burning only.

Pioneer 111 - Key Elements For X360 Use

As quoted

The Pioneer DVR-111 is the crowd favorite at X-S for a good reason, it is a great burner.
Here are some quick info on this drive,

1. Pioneer burners sets booktype (bitsetting) automatically to DVD-ROM for Double Layer +R, thus no need to change anything if you have a Pioneer.

2. The firmware on your Pioneer should not be a problem if it is 1.23+ (even prior version should work). Upgrade it only if you have a problem since it is much easier to upgrade than the opposite. You can find the firmwares for Pioneer at RPC1.org.

3. It is also a good drive for those using wxripper with the emergency hole (like most Pioneer are).

if your pioneer does not bitset DL it is defective IMHO. They mostly (if not all) are autoset for DL.
You need to check on a burn disc ( How to verify a burn )

Note that with v2.3s it should not make a difference.
The reason you have a problem to find a soft, is that the way you usally set a pioneer to Bitset or not is by changing FW.

How have you extracted the SS?

also you have been posting all over the place, make your bed, post one place and work that  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

i extracted the ss.bin using dvdinfopro. i'm slowly working out the kinks here. I have the drive setting booktype to dvd-rom now. Now my problem is that i'm using xbox 360 ss merger and it outputs a .dvd file. i ran "patch iso for imgburn" but it left the file as a .dvd. now do i just change the extension to .iso and let rip? thanks.

If you talk of the stand alone small application  to patch iso for imgburn,You do not need that thing anymore.

Get the game.iso with wxripper,
get the ss.bin
merge in SSmerger1.7b
using the following options
(IMG:http://memberuploads.xbox-scene.com/uploads/2007_02_27/21_04_20_optionssmerger.jpg)
Burn using XBCr or Imgburn called by XBCr as per Tutorial: XBCreator & Imgburn

well...i did all that. now instead of the xbox reading it as a dvd, it says it's an unplayable disc. i checked the verify tutorial and it says that the size should be 7,572,881,408 bytes. Mine says it's 7,838,760,960 bytes. What can i be doing wrong here? I got my ss.bin file using the dvdinfopro method and everything went smooth. I got my game.iso from wxripper using king kong (7.8gigs) and the eject hole method (had one crc error that i fixed) and it went just fine also. Please Help. Thanks.

after wxripper is the files 7,572,881,408 bytes (it should), if not what is the layout file used?

and you use SSmerger1.7b and exactly the option above?

C19408
D1072

C1783936
J335360
C1783936
J0
Any ideas?

What does ssmerger says when you open the game.iso ''wxripper style..."??

Maybe it is the ss that is not well extracted, your hitachi is which model and which FW?
Are originals and movies playing fine?

when i add the file to xbox merger is says "game.iso is bigger than WxRipper style" then "NME Security sector md5 : 463768585159901d4277cf2fa4b8827a" then "Current Security sector md5 : a3a53d4735f7b53ea2d617ae4fb90c17" and the it asked me if i want to calculate the md5 sum and verify online. I tried the last step once but it froze up and eventually timed out.

My drive is a Hitachi 49 with Kslax Firmware. Original 360 and Xbox 1 games play fine as do dvd movies.

Wow , I am not getting this one.
1) you are extracting from an original not a backup??
2) after wxripper the image is 7,838,760,960 bytes and when you open that specific image in ssmerger it tells you that it is bigger than wxripper style.
3) when you put the movie in at the start of wxripper what is the magic number?
can you try J in the first three line

J19408
J1072
J109344
C1783936
J335360   -----this is you magic number as given by the movie before the swap??
C1783936
J0

yes, i'm extracting from a original copy of gears of war and my magic number (using King Kong) is 335360. I'll try ripping with J's for the first 3 and see if the file size changes.
