Under the memorex hood, it is a nec 3550a, try using the nec tab in DVDinfopro or imgburn to change the booktype,

That being said, small impact probably on a samsung 5.2 with verbatim. The only thing I can see is use 12x, or try a small pot calibration (if you are technically inclined and up to it), it may help the 4x .

Just for the heck of it, I attempted to change the Booktype, assuming that my Memorex was actually a Nec, as you said.  But that failed.  However, when I used the Lite-On tab, I *was* able to change the Booktype.  Go figure.

Not that surprising, Memorex rebadge everything. the mix can be quite awful.

At least it works, good gaming,

Yup, a rebadged Lite-On versus a rebadged NEC.  This is one of the reasons why (like my media) I prefer to buy straight from the manufacturer so I know EXACTLY what I am getting. wink.gif
