Trouble Backing Up 360 Game With Wx Ripper
« Reply #15 on: February 10, 2007, 12:25:00 PM »

See thats what I figured, but when I connect the drive to the PC My Sata Adapter doesn't detect the Drive after I have inserted the 0800 Disc, and windows freezes at the windows logo loading window, after maybe a minute or two windows starts to load like nothing happend, and then the drive is still not detected, and I was reading that you have to hex edit MTK Flash to get it to recognize the drive when your going to flash it, but I have already flashed it with Xtreme5.2b. I have played backups of original Xbox games so I know it went well.

I was thinking maybe I should make my own Xtreme firmware with orig.Bin and then use xtreme boot maker to create the files using the firmware I created, but it tells me it doesn't recognize the firmware maybe I flashed it wrong. I know that my Adapter has a bios funtion, and when I connect the X360 drive to it it doesn't recognize it even after the 0800 disc, when I go into the bios it says there are not enough disk arrays to do yada yada, and it won't let me do anything, like mess with funtions, or the like. I have a VIA 6421L Chipset with two Sata ports and an IDE. I'm thinking I need to reflash my drive. Man I'm hopeless

carefull with the reflash,

do you have an addon card 6421, and have you installed the drivers 5.4?
if so you need to go back to driver 5.2 for your card.

I check the Driver version under device manager

Driver version:  5.1.2600.410

Driver Date:  7/5/2004

So there pretty old. These is what came on the CD, I'm going to look for drivers over the net

Okay I found old Drivers Here:

http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageI...D=117&Old=1

They have 5.2A & 5.2C

5.20A Dated 30 November 2005

5.20C Dated 10 February 2006

I think maybe the oldest 5.20A

[Version]
CatalogFile=viamraid.cat
signature="$CHICAGO$"
Class=SCSIAdapter
ClassGUID={4D36E97B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Provider=%VIA%
DriverVer=03/31/2006, 5.1.2600.530

This is the version info in the .INI for version 5.30C

5.20C & 5.20A is 5.1.2600.520 the website says 5.20A/C but the .ini, and Components manager under windows both say 5.1.2600.520, but differant dates. What is this spesific version for anyways. Its just the Card doesn't detect the X360 Drive from startup, so i'm wondering if I have to reflash it with an edited MTK Flash, because I never edited. I used xtreme boot maker, and it worked fine. I understand that this program edites the MTK flash for you right? I'm not looking to good.

you may have to return to the beginning until you have it detected, you are right.

probably not just a drivers issue,

goodluck,

I figured it all out. I had to rethink the whole process. I mean I’ve read every tutorial about backing up your games, and there are so many different programs, and several different ways to go about it. At this point I didn’t know whether or not this program was meant for this type or drive, or this program was this old, or outdated, and so on. So I decided to start from scratch.

I’ve already flashed my MS28 according to “textbook. PDF” and had no problem backing up my original & hacked firmware using MTK Flash, all that I needed to do was figure out how to backup, but nothing I did worked. I first tried the Enable 0800 disc I burned but my SATA adapter wouldn’t detect the drive at startup, and windows would freeze during this process. So I figured I burned the ISO wrong, and used a different program to re burn it, but still nothing.  I then resorted in the hot swap method, but that didn’t work. I couldn’t extract the SS from the raw dump, and XBC wouldn’t burn the resulting file. Even SS Merger v1.7 would tell me this ISO was to small or to big for this type of style (read posts) So I gave up, or felt like giving up, but I didn’t let it stop me when I first got my Xbox 1, so I wasn’t going to let the 360 get the best of me.

MTK Flash will detect you SATA card when Hex edited for the appropriate adapter/chipset. Xtreme Boot Maker does this for you, and even has the boke’s Patch for MS28 Drives and the Bad Flash recovery option. So It’s a no brainier that this is how the SATA card was able to detect TS-H943 (MS 28) with the help of MTK Flash when I first flashed the drive. I even went the extra step and hex edited the MTKFlash.exe again, according to my chipset (VIA 6421). Knowing the 0800 Enable disc still didn’t work I had to trick my PC. At this point I knew the Flash went well due to the fact that I could play old Xbox 1 backups. So it had to be the adapter that didn’t care whether or not 0800 was enabled.

     1.   I went ahead and loaded DOS with Startup disk (with Hex edited MTKFlash.exe)
     2.   Turn on the Xbox 360 with SATA cable connected to the PC/adapter card, (After DOS loaded)       and power still going to the X360 DVD-Drive.
     3.   Next I loaded the Enable0800 Disc into the 360 and then took it out after listening to the laser stop.

At this point the enable0800 disc does its magic after the fact that the PC & SATA Adapters Bios have loaded up and enabled all system settings, were as before the bios would counteract the enable0800 disc and not detect the drive at all.

     4.   Next type at the command prompt “MTKFLASH /SATA” without quotes

.You’ll notice that you come up to the part where it asks you to choose which drive to select and flash, but because I didn’t provide a hacked firmware with MTKFlash it can’t flash the selected drive, and it gives you an error. The Xbox 360’s Power Light starts to flash like the Tray is opening/closing

     5.   Next just power down the PC, and turn back on while keeping the Xbox 360 powered on, and let the PC Load up. The PC’s Bios loads, and detects Windows, then the bios utility for my SATA RAID Card. Now the card detects the X360 Drive, and windows loads up with the drive under My Computer.

So essentially I just loaded the enable0800 disc after loading DOS with Startup Disk and not Enable0800 will the PC is loading DOS. Reverse psychology in other words. Who says it doesn’t work.

Well I'm not to sure there have been problems with other people detecting their Drives, but if there is a number of people out there, then maybe this will help them out, considering the fact that they have MTKFlash Hex Edited if that applies to their Adapter Card. sosotiit, thanks for helping along the way.
