It could be the image??
How have you done the backup?

-for ss.bin which software & drive
-for game.iso which software & drive
-how was it merged

Are you sure of your source of verbatim? where were they bought (made in singapore?)

Maybe a PC problem (gone to PIO instead of DMA), some conflict ALcohol, anydvd...

might be good to try a burn of something not x360 related, just to see if it is a pure burning problem.

your image production is pretty straightforward, and even previous success do not work anymore!!

any chance of something else conflicting on you PC (new since last successful burn)?

or you are extremely unlucky and have a bad batch of verb (on the box it says made in SIngapore?), Can you try from a different batch (or even brand , I know it is a sin but just for debug purposes).

I would try burning a D/L disc for another application.  What firmware rivision do you have on your Pioneer and what drive and firmware revision in your 360 DVD-ROM?

I defraged my computer since it was 19% fragmanted which is pretty bad.  I uninstalled imgburn and reintsalled it and burned the game again and watched the entire process.  At 16% it scared me, because the write speed went down to 0kb, but about 1-2 seconds later it went back up to 8x. Then again at 44% went down to 0% again, then came back up again.  At 51% which was the layer break, it went to 0kb again, but came back up and finally finish successfully.  From the 51% mark the speed did vary a lot off and on, but never went to 0kb and it always came back up.  I checked the game it it worked in the 360.

I've never watch the entire process of a game burn, but does the write speed sometimes goes to 0kb, or is that not normal, because it doesn't sound normal.
