Its Definately Time For An Answer To This. Please.
« on: January 17, 2007, 06:55:00 AM »

Time for the straight answer: as a general rule  it is a no go to extract game partition with hitachi (if you do not want to complement with wxripper or SHD162C/Kreon).

I believe the vast majority are all the same: You can extract the ss (except for v78) but cannot extract the game partition. (Except maybe a few of the very early hitachi where working, not 100% sure) .
Hope that if someone has more info, they will jump in to add.

here are the practical options as I see them now. In short Wxripper or acquire a SH-D162C!! sad.gif

So dumping via Hitachi has NEVER? been supported? That's the impression I'm getting.

Anybody who has successfully dumped a game with their Hitachi? Anybody?

Please!

I don't understand. This was ripped, straight from the Maximus-Garyopa_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_3_Stealth_Rev2 firmware readme. You've got to be joking me, telling me I can't backup. Please help me. I bought a Connectivity Kit and everything.

QUOTE
Creating a game backup
----------------------

* Full info above to make the "SS.BIN" file first.

* Extract the included "ISOBUILD.RAR" package.

* Insert original game disk into drive.

* And wait for windows to detect disk change.

* Run Isobuster

  - Right click on DVD and select Extract From-To

  - Click Length and enter number of LBAs as follows:

  - Xbox 1 Original Number of LBA to read 3431264 decimal

    or

  - Xbox 360 Original Number of LBA to read 3567872 decimal

  - Select User Data (2048 bytes/block)

  - Click Start Extraction

  - Enter filename as game.iso and click Save

  - Upon read error dialogue box choose fill with blank zeros
for sector and select use this selection for all errors

* Copy game.iso and ss.bin to the relevent isobuilder directory
(Depending on Xbox 360 or Xbox 1 game)

* Run build360.bat (Xbox 360 game) or build.bat (xbox 1 game)

* Ensure your burner will set the booktype of DVD+R DL to DVDRom

* Burn with CloneCd and choose the image.dvd file

Thx.

Thinking I had used the wrong firmware, which I was, according to geebee's tutorial, I used the Restore.bat of the  Maximus-Garyopa_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_3_Stealth_Rev2, and then I tried the one listed in the tutorial (OPA-XTREME-HITACHI-7IN1-V2_1.)

Again it didn't work when I tried ISOBUSTER, as the game portion didn't show up. The readme explicitly states that a game backup is feasible. What am I doing wrong?

I've been searching like no other, and I'm still stuck. Anybody? This reply would helped so many others like me, I know it because I've seen 100's of threads just like this (without an answer.)

I've successfully DUMPED a game using the said firmware, and extracted SS from it, but i'm yet to burn (discs turn up tomorrow).  I'll burn the image and check tomorrow

If its a no go i'll just use WXripper

Oh, is there a standard size for a game.iso to be (before or after SS is merged)?

the few successes on this have been highly dependant on drive version,
you should state you drive version if you do not want to chase ghost.

Yeah, I know how to dump with WxRipper, but I don't want to. I want to dump via my Hitachi. I have a 46 model and sosotiit quoted something saying that there has been some success with 46 drives.

Do you guys know how that was done?

Thx.

I also know it did not work for everyone with a v46,so here we go

-ModeB
-Gamedisk in
-isobuster 0 to 3567872
-name to game.iso
...
select fill with blank zeros + for all errors

if it does not unlock and allow you to see the game partition, it is what it is!! The exact difficulty why experts like Redline99 and schtrom cannot make their soft compatible to the Hitachi (with all their expertise wink.gif ).

Hope you helps.

Here's a question. Are the Hitachi developers looking into getting the drives to unlock the game portions?

Hi Topho,

I do not believe there is much chances (at this point) for this to occur. If that was feasible with reasonable efforts it would be available by now. It may happen as a by-product of some new development but doubt that work is directed specifically at this problem.

there are a few factors to consider: need, value and the demand.

The need is not what it was when the X360 hacking started. The crowd is now divided in two groups: those who do not want to open their x360 (or have some splitting system); and those willing to live with having to access their x360 drive.
The former group have the likes of SH-D162C (probably a large part of Hitachi Owner by now).
The latter,  willing to open (or leave open, or accessing their X360drive via some  splitter on the drive cable ...)  their X360 will rip their entire game (for samsung owner)  or combine with wxripper for hitachi owner.

These are some good options, so the value of Hitachi ripping is not what it used to be. When you put that in context to other options for samsung owner currently not available in Hitachi drives like
-Extraction of SS for v78
-Multiple read speed
-Single layer for Xbox1
-Some +/-RW support on SL...
This may attract more the interest of the Hitachi dev teams than the ripping.

Anyway, just some very personal thoughts on this.

So if I understand this correctly, certain versions of the HL will work with isobuster and some will not. I have teh HL 47DJ, and I can use isobuster, but at the end of the extraction, after a couple hours, it says something about read failing. I went ahead and patched and burned anyway, but the 360 says, please insert this disc into a 360...So i'm thinking my disc is scratched maybe? Or is it b/c i patched using the .bat file that came from OPA, and not Maximus, and my drive is patched with Maximus, or does that not matter. I'm trying it again using everything from Maximus

In IsoBuster I can see:
DVD
 Session 1
  Track 01
  iso XBOX360
  udf XBOX360
  VIDEO

so does that mean I can extract???
i'll post a pic later if you would like

Right now i've hit the same problem....  I extracted the SS using the firmware tools (from 2.3 rev2) and i used WXRipper to get the image.  I know the flash is good and it merged ok using the SS merger so i'm wondering what the problem is.  (59DJ drive with Verbatim)  I burnt the small game.dvd image created.  I might try simply burning the image.000 file, but i would likely waste another costly piece of media

Please do report back, i have merged the game.iso from WXripper (a fresh one i just did), with a fresh SS (that i just got) using the "Build360.bat".  THis sounds like the exact set up as you so do tell if it works or not

Thanks  rolleyes.gif

My 46D will NOT detect the game portion of an 360 disc.

I find it SO ODD, that the readmes of all the firmwares indicate that reading the 360 disc is possible in IsoBuster when it really isn't in most all instances in a Hitachi. I've searched HIGH and LOW for the answer to this question of hitachi dumping of 360 discs. My conclusion is that its broken. All sources (readmes/tutorials) indicate that it is possible. However, **most all users report it not working. There IS one tutorial that DOES indicate that the dumping IS NOT possible, and that is the Dummies Guides to Xbox 360 modification.

I've tried two firmwares, both failing to unlock the game portion.
Maximus-Garyopa_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_3_Stealth_Rev2
and
OPA-XTREME-HITACHI-7IN1-V2_1 (The explicit one mentioned in Geebee's.)

I might try one of the very first firmwares and see if that works. I'll report back findings, if I ever try it.

I appreciate all input to my topic, even if it no longer directly concerns me.
