Burning Isos To Dvd+rl With Samsung Sh-s182d
« on: January 13, 2007, 12:19:00 PM »

Did somebody tryed to Burn Isos with that Burner
I recently buyed thatone , but non of the games works.
what i do:

1.open Schtrom360 put disc into Samsung 162c kreon 0.81v
2. i Extract in the Stealth mode (whole dsc ( stealth xtreme 3.0)
(they told me that will add the ss files into the iso automaticly , are they right?)
3.Load the iso (image.dvd and image.000) with CloneCD and burn with a SAMSUNG SH-S182D
I Know there must be a method to place your DVD+rl ro DVD-rom but DVDinfopro Doesnt show me this command. so i tryed in Nero , and will give me DVD-rom option.
Or does CLoneCD have a option on his own. or is my Burner not good enough?

Thnx

In dvdinfopro,
after you put in one of the dvd you have burn, click media (2nd icon on the left) ,
look at the 10th line Booktype if it is DVD-ROM they are OK (if DVD+r DL it did not work)

Here is an excellent link on this.

It seems some samsung do not have permanent bitsetting and that means that you can then only use software that do a bitsetting everytime they do a burn like NERO does.
Most drive have permanent bitsetting and  the booktype is be memorized in the drive itself so you could use any software to burn with a DVD-ROM booktype.
Not 100 % sure but I heard the 182D is one of those not having permanent bitset, but it may have changed with the latest firmware??

If not , after you extracted your image, you may need to burn with nero (if it can handle the layerbreak??).
Hope it helps

@ flib-,
Thks for the info,
maybe you have a X360 samsung drive?
That would be why you do not need to care about the booktype,
If tantatium has a hitachi?? he must set the booktype. If not he should not worry about it as well.

EDIT: some good news here for you and other 182C owner. It seems you can change the bitset with imgburn and then do your burn. You will have to do it before every burn. The good news is that next version of imgburn should have a feature similar to nero to do bitsetting by software for all those owner of samsung (and some LG) burners.

Hi tantanium

since you have a TS-H943 in your X360, if your firmware is 3.1 or newer you should not need the booktype so that must not be your issue.

I prefer slightly XBCreator here to schtrom. To be honest the difference is not that big, two great softs.

If you still want to change it before each burn, you would be required you to do the following:
open imgburn,
be sure your burner is select in 'destination" and put in a disk of the type you want to set (+R DL),
go in Tools/Drive/Change Book Type/'Your burner Brand'
select 'change For:' to a 'DVD +R DL MEDIA' and in 'New Setting' choose DVD-ROM + hit Change

hope it helps, soso

I have a a liteon 165 and it is working great.

if you have tried with two games,  two different burners and two different X360 Firmwares... you have covered a lot of the potential problems.

With Imgbrun (tutorial here) set the layerbreak manually to 1913760 and call the .iso file directly (not the .dvd file).

If that does not work, my next recommendation would be to check if the problem  is your X360.
1) I am assuming the original is playing fine so it is not the flash of your x360 that went wrong.
2) Since you need to know where is the problem, find a friend that has a working setup. Bring your original and backup to test them on his X360. Bring one of his known working original and corresponding backup and test it on your x360. It will tell you if the problem is the DVD your are producing or your X360 Drive.

aaaahhh, that is good  jester.gif ,

While you are at it, I would definately install the latest 5.2 on my drive.

and I would retry COD3 with XBCreator because you are not the first one mentionning a problem with COD3 and schtrom.

enjoy,
