Playing Backed Up Games

Okay, now I know that there are ways to play backups on the 360 by flashing the 360's drive. But I have some questions about this.

1) Can I Still Play On Xbox Live *WITH* Originals?
2) Can I Play XBL With Backups?
3) Is there any chip/hardware to do the flashing for me? I heard about the NME or w.e but dont know if it is actually good or not.
