Smb Listing Extremely Slow
« on: April 19, 2004, 04:03:00 PM »

I have all my MP3's on a linux fileserver, available via Samba 3.02.  My main MP3 directorty contains 392 subfolders for artists.  The main folder contains no files directly.

XBMC (04-19-2004-PROPER build) takes well over 1 minute to display the list of subfolders.  Any other PC on my network can display the list immediately.

Using ccxstream is slightly better, but still pretty much unuseable.

Is anyone else experiencing the same sort of problem?  Any suggestions on how to improve it?  <

Thank you for the reply.  Where would I specify this cache?  I do not see anything like it it XboxMediaCenter.xml.  <

Hi there,

I had the same problem, but unchecking the button search tumbnails in personal folders did the trick.

Go to settings while running xbmc choose the music button choose library and voila

kind regards <

Hehe true, but people SHOULD take notice of the folder.jpg sizes they put in their folders.. it doesnt have to be more than 150pixels wide, so dont put the largest poster you can download as your movie folder.jpg, when you have a few of those in the same dir it will take time to cache them. <
