Sony Dvd+r Dl Discs?
« on: January 08, 2007, 08:00:00 PM »

great post on this subject here

Sony do not manufacture DL (at least yet), that are mostly RitekD01 from what I have seen recently
(Use to have some MKM001, but haven't seen them in a while).

Verbatim (MKM001/3) would be superior.

Hmm according to the thread about them in the cdfreaks bargain basement they can either be Ritek/Ricoh (Made in Taiwan) or MKM (Made in Singapore).  So if you can find the Made In Singapore spindles then these are exactly the same thing as buying the Verbatim discs. wink.gif  I need to add this to my thread.

Great news on the Sony/MKM,
I had not seen any for a while (Obviously this is only locally), and wish they start sending some here.

I will check for the singapore.

Hmm after doing some more reading at CDFREAKS it looks like the MKM Sonys may ONLY be available in Europe.  sad.gif   Still worth looking into though.

Might be some contractual stuff per country, because that was the first DL I got in Canada approx. early 2006.
It was a small pack (3 per pack I believe and $$$). I tried buy them twice after that but  always got RitekD01, So I switched to verbatim.
Too bad, I did 2 futureshop and 2 bestbuy and 1 staples today hoping to find some  sad.gif .
Verbatim are doing a great job, it is just that more brand with MKM001/3 inside would have meant more chance to catch them at a great price.

Yeah, they seem to work fine for now, they came up on my system as ritek discs though, so who knows how long they'll last.  Verbs are still the best, But i figured I'd try to search for reliable alternatives sad.gif
