hi turq, after you unzipped the buffalo's fw, you would have 2 files inside a folder right?  you ran that application file to update from 8.19 to 8.29 right?  it will run but as a DOS command box within Windows.  you cannot just flash from 1.06 -> 8.2x.  you got to progressively flash from 1.06 -> 8.19 because these 2 fw is the only ones that are with this *., which means TDB Flasher w/Kernel.  ater you flash to either of this 2 fw, then you can upgrade as a 111D or 111L but not crossflash, that means to say - (111D)1.06*->1.19->8.19->1.23->8.25->1.29->8.29, all under 111D labels and (111L)8.19*->8.26->8.29.

you will never be able to bitset pioneer's drive in dvdinfopro or whatever software, you will see all media as they are and not dvd-rom until you burn them and only after you burn them, will you see dvd-rom inside dvdinfopro.  i tried dvd+rw, it cannot be set to dvd-rom though, even with fw modded to buffalo's.  cheers!

not telling you it will work or not, because I am not a Pioneer specialist, but if you want to change from modified fw to stock  it is not unusual to have to go thru a specific FW. Again, not by experience on a Pioneer.

you can also check here for an advice on crossflash,

hi turq, you are doing it right as i can see.  once you crossflashed from a 111D to a 111L using tat fw with kernel is a big step already.  now what you want is just update that 111L 8.19 to a 111L 8.29 right?  ok, i can see no difference in flashing from a 8.19 to a 8.29 between you and me except one difference - and that is i m using Windows XP and you are not.  so turq, could that make a big difference in terms of flashing?  actually, i won't know but you wanna try flashing using a Windows XP based PC?  cheers!
hi, edlimym
your suggestion to use another computer with win xp on it, gave me another advanced idea. the idea is using virtual machine to get access to th 111L 819-pioneer drive

but i fristly tried to flash the drive in my second computer. the flash program could recognize the dvd-drive, could start the flashing process, but ending it was big problem. when the flasher has flashed the drive, it goes from flashing mode into normal mode. switching from flashing mode into nomral mode was the probrlem on my second computer which has totally different hardware, main board and chipset thatn my first computer (whihc is thus with win server2003)

then i tried the virtual-machine-methode. i just installed win xp pro as guest using vmware workstation on win-server-2003 host. then attached the dvd drive into that guest win xp pro, then flashed the drive....
i still didn't try to burn some games, but in IMGBurn i can now see pioneer 111L 8.29
althought DVDINFOPRO tells that the drive cannt write +R DL-disk, i am going to try it, burning PAL-version of Test Drive Unlimited

i will let u know what the progres and result of burning are
