Backing Up With 0078...

any ss.bin involved?? how did you extract the ss.bin since 078 FW is 1.6 (which has no f900 core) and therefore is not good for extracting ss.bin.

other ideas , yes

It seems the v78 is not different than the one or two hitachi model preceding it. extracting the game partition is not feasible.

Most people with these hitachi were using wxripper on a pc drive to extract the gameimage or they bought an SH-D162C.

as for ideas: use wxripper to get your image
or since you extracted your ss.bin somehow, use that setup to extract the game image.

other than wxripper or acquiring an SH-D162C, not really.

But as far as wxripper with a pioneer you probably do not even need to take it apart . With most drive it is the case, but with pioneer you can usually do the swap by opening the tray via the emergency hole and a paper clip. I have tried this on a pioneer 04, (06 or 08 not sure which) and a 09  biggrin.gif , they all worked easily.

Only a few thing to remember:
1) when you put the movie in let it play for 20 seconds (the movie not only the menu)
2) after the 'stop drive',
-open the tray with the paper clip,
        -swap for the game,
-close by pushing the door (not the eject button),
        -hit 'spin drive',
        -then 'explore with wx360' :
-If the wx360 opens, close wx360 and 'Start Dump'
-If it does not open without an error, restart the process at the start

hope it helps, soso

Error @ 0 : Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

Does not initiate OK, as mentioned  try wx360 to see game dvd is properly seen (then close it), if yes you can start the dump

Error @ 11264 : Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

During the rip (not at position 0) , clean the disk well (if you have many errors that must be the problem), ensure your dvd movie is large enough.
a few game are a bit more difficult like tomb raider they have a few specific error that you  must jump or dummy.
here is a best link IMHO.
