Hello
Im having a bit of trouble backing up my nfs carbon as well as my other games.
I extracted the ss using a hitachi 47dh that I flashed using Maximus-Garyopa_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_3_Stealth_Rev2 and then used toolbox 3.0 to change the key and drive model to a v78. It now plays original games in the 360 so it worked. I go to command prompt and type in getss h ss.bin and it retrieved it. I then extract the game using a 111d and wxripper. I got an error at around 90000 so i changed the layout to dump the 3rd line instead of copy it and redid the process. The rest goes well. I then use ss merger 1.7b to merge it and get an invalid ss error and then it says to burn it. It combines them and the file is bigger and the .dvd comes out too. I then use ImgBurn 2.1 to burn the .dvd at 2.4x speed. I even had it verify and it said the booktype was dvd-rom and the physical media was dvd+r dl. I am using verbatims and when I put it into the 360 it recognizes it as a dvd. I've tried cold booting, softbooting, inserting it while on and it still thinks it is a dvd  wink.gif . It then plays the insert into 360.
Im guessing this is because of the dvd-rom booktype.
Any help would be appreciated.  cool.gif

Actually I'm pretty sure its the security sector. Anyone know why it might come out wrong? I have all of the Maximus-Garyopa_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_3_Stealth_Rev2 in one folder adn i go to command screen and type the location and then getss.exe h ss.bin and it says it copies it successfully. So I find it in that location and use ss merger. Why would the ss come out wrong? Guess I'll keep searching and be patient for a reply.

First not all hitachi do well at extracting ss.bin.

Try xboxcreator stealth check on your image to see what it will say.

If ssmerge gives you an error about the ss validity it is a good indication
I would try extracting the ss.bin differently (xboxcreator  or dvdinfopro) and since you are connecting your x360 drive to your pc anyway, you could extract your game.iso with xboxcreator or isobuster.

After you combine them in ssmerger, test it with the stealth check of xboxcreator or schtrom.

That is just my opinion, but with a hitachi, I would buy an sh-d162c to extract from my PC (but just an opinion biggrin.gif ),

Stealth check says video is valid, Pfi failed data is missing, Dmi failed data is missing, SS is present

Using xbox backup creator to backup the game gives me
Xtreme style game partition is not avaliable

The ss.bin xbc gives me is the same one i get from the cmd command using ss merger to verify.

I would buy an sh-d162c, but i just bought a 111d and am kind of angry that it didnt solve what I though was the problem. I guess I might have to   sleep.gif

Thanks for the help  biggrin.gif

Do you always get an invalid ss error from ssmerger?
Until you can extract an ss that ssmerger will accept it will be though without it sad.gif

The current ss and ss file never match  sad.gif . I wish the database was still up  wink.gif . Then when combining I always get Invalid SS. Ugg guess I might have to fork out another $40- $60.  sad.gif

hi Druggedpolak,
The fact that current and ss do not match is not an issue because you extracted with wxripper on a pioneer , it is pretty sure the current ss is not good anyway. The good ss would therefore not match it.

But, that you get invalid ss during the merge is more of a concern.
Maybe before investing more money on a drive that can extract the ss.bin (like sh-d162c), you should try with a friend that as a setup working to extract the ss.bin of that disk and then continue your merge/burn process. just to be sure it is the problem

Yeah I got a different ss.bin and it worked   smile.gif
No invalid error when merging.
Thanks for all your help. I'm probably going to buy a sh-d162c soon.
