Are there any cons to using this kit. And also do you only need to open your xbox One time and and use this of will you still need to open your xbox. . .AND one last little thing if anyone can help really break down what this box actually does in a few sentences (noob terms) would be awesome!!

THANKS

Simple this device eliminates the compatibility issues with SATA connections on your PC.  While SATA (Serial ATA) connections are nice they are still all over the place with compatibility (ie one Motherboard/controller card is compatible with a given drive and another is not).  The point is that you could easily pull apart your XBOX and get the DVD-ROM drive all hooked up (via SATA connection which is standard on the 360 DVD-ROM drives) and have the drive not even be detected by your PC.  The USB kit eliminates that concern since it is essentially a USB adapter for your 360 DVD-ROM drive (Plugs into any USB 2.0 port).  As for opening the XBOX you will only need to do it for as often as you flash your drive.  So if you only flash the drive once then you will only need to open it up once.

Yes, unfortunately that is true.  grr.gif  I just got a new 360 with that POS drive and it doesn't work.  Although the goodnews is that there appears to be a fix in the works for it.  If you use the latest Slax CD with the kit it will work but man it sure bogs down my machine to the point where it is unuseable, but at least the drive is now being detected by Windows.   I sure hope they get the fix for this thing soon or I am going to pitch my V78 on ebay and replace it with a decent drive.  Thanks again Microshaft.  grr.gif
