Unreadable Disc - Ss Error?
« on: December 27, 2006, 03:40:00 PM »

I've backed up a few games fine today and yesterday, and they burn fine and play.  However, the last few I've tried are all giving me unreadable disc errors, 4 in all.  Made about 7 coasters now, on two seperate burners, and having no background processes running.  I can only assume that its a problem with the images, but they ripped fine with Schtrom3.1.

Is it possible that it ripped the security sectors incorrectly and that is what is causing the error?  I'm using the same media I was before, Verbatim DVD+R DL and the burner had given me a few good ones before.

All the games spin up and it sounds like its reading them at high speed, then it stops pretty quick, does a slower spin, and gives me the error on all of them.  The good burns just stay at that high speed initial read.

Basically what I want to know is will a bad security sector rip give that error.

Xtreme 4.2a on a Samsung drive.  Ripping with Schtrom3.1 choosing Stealth3.  Layer break is set right, using Img Burn.

Not letting me edit for some reason..

Seems like if you open the ripping program and THEN rip the SS, you get the right one.  Having a disc in then opening the program gives the wrong one.  I just tested this with my old image and my legit copy and the security sectors don't match up.  Going to try again and post my results.
