Australian Weather + Bug?
« on: April 19, 2004, 08:21:00 AM »

Firstly:  I cant seem to get Australian Weather(Melbourne) to work.  I have put in the Australian code (ASXX0075) from weather.com  but XBMC doesn't find anything.

EDIT:  Ok, so you cant have anymore than the presets.  Damn.

Well,  how are more presets added?  I assume some serious coding is involved?

Ok, so it didn't find anything when i searched using the code.  But found it when i searched using the city name "melbourne".

Cool. thats all good now.  hugely useful feature now that its relavent to my locale :D

But, not sure if this bug is known, or if it is a bug..  But when it finds nothing, and you try to go back.  XBMC locks up at the screen where it says:

"Searching...
blahblah"  <

Search takes city names or US zip codes, not weather.com location codes.  <

You can get more specific weather than just Melbourne (city)..

I'm using Moorabbin Airport, about 8km from me...

Go to weather.com to have a look...  <

Yes, just type in the name of the city for the Weather.

Mods:  How come there isn't a sticky for the weather thing yet?  I've seen quite a few people here (myself included  ) ask about this function.  <

Im no mod, but I figure they havent made a pinned topic as it seems kinda self explanatory, once the weather feature was taken out of the XML, you HAVE to go to settings--general to set it.  Maybe I just took it for granted tho.    <

It might be self explanatory if you live in the USA where all you have to do is enter your weather code and it works.  The first time I saw this feature, I tried to add my weather code since that is what I saw on the screen.  When I tried this for Canada, it didn't work.  Nowhere does it explicitly say that you have to search by city name instead of weather code outside of the USA.

That's my point.  <

Exactly - I sodded around for ages thinking the thing was broken until I checked the xboxmediacenter website for answers. One line of explanation in a "readme" would have helped a lot of people  <_<   <
