Major Problem, All Help Is Really Appreciated
« on: December 27, 2006, 02:39:00 PM »

First, I am semi- new to the boards so mods, if this is in the wrong forum I would appreciate it if you could place it in its correct section.

Ok, heres my deal. I recently have tried to back up one of my 360 games and I cannot do it anymore. Xbox Backup Creator will not write the output file, nor will Nero or Alcohol. I did this before and it all worked and I just re-installed XP after a terrible fallout due to a virus.

Anyway, below I have pasted my log. I set the booktype to DVD-Rom in dvdinfopro too. I cannot figure this out for the life of me. I have tried to burn on two DL burners, One a rebadged Lite-on and the other an NEC. here is the log for the Sony. Note: the outome is the same for both drives, the log looks the same.

Try ImgBurn 2.1 and if it errors out, post its log too.
Do you have any of the logs from Nero?

Major Problem, All Help Is Really Appreciated
« Reply #2 on: December 27, 2006, 11:07:00 PM »

Hmm...well this is weird. ImgBurn accepted the ISO and wrote it with no error whatsoever. The problem now is that the 360 will not boot the disc, when I put it in the 360 all the 360's drive does is spin up fast, spin down, spin up, spin down, and so on.

The other weird thing is, I went over a friends took the same drive I use at home to read the discs (not my 360s drive) and did the exact same process I tried on my computer and it worked over there. I created a backup of 3 different games, all 3 work.

I came home, used the image I ripped from my portable Samsung drive and ran it in ImgBurn as you suggested, I changed the booktype in ImgBurn to Rom and this is its log. It seemed that all was great until I tried to put in the 360 and it wouldn't boot.

No I don't have any of Nero's logs. I'd try again with it but I'd rather not ruin a disc if thats avoidable, BTW I'm burning with Verbatim DVD+R DL 8x media if that helps at all.

xbox backup creator gimmes error everytime... i allways use the wxrip swap method, u can see this methos explained in the forum or u can search the net there´s tons of tutorials...
it´s a little bit complicated but u get 100% of success on the backup.

I have a Samsung d162 why would I have to use the swap method? Isn't there some simpler, less invasive, way of accomplishing this? It seems it has to be my computer that is causing the conflict somehow, I have tried everything on the other computer and it worked perfectly.. what could I be missing that would cause this?

I dont know if this would matter but you could change your drives master to slave, etc.

I think I read elsewhere where Redline said it shouldn't make that much of a difference, nonetheless the drive I am burning with is set to master, I also tried to burn with another burner that is set to slave. My arms are up in the air... don't know what to do...

Ok look, I've tried 2 versions of WinXP and now I am running Vista Ultimate, I keep getting the exact same error, can someone please help me? Redline is gone and I am at the end of the line on this issue. I have no idea what else I can possibly do.  Here is a picture of my error, time and time again. It happens when I go to burn the image.

I will refer you to this thread, there is discussion on how to make vista work ( it is toward the end ).

it would also be the best place to post on this.
