Sh-d162c, Is It Worth The Investment

Is it worth the investment??
This drive is £11.73 from my supplier in the UK. Hardly expensive and it can be used as a DVD drive other than for backups.

Yes it is !!
My 360 is fully assembled and looks like it should. Never have to take it apart, except for FW upgrades.
My reader and writer are in USB 2.0 enclosures and get put away when not in use.
XBC and Schtrom work great, and just can't say enough about the convience.
Sorry for the long and off topic answer, but if you can get one, Get It!!!!

Ok guys stupid question here.

I need to ask what the SH-D162C does?

and can someone tell me what this stuff is
XBC? my guess is xbconnect

Schtrom? MY guess is way to read games.

any help is appreciated

The SH-D162C is a Samsung PC DVD Drive that can be flashed with a special firmware (Kreon) that allows it to read XBOX 360 games.   Most PC drives can't read 360 games.  So it makes ripping games easy.

XBC is actually Xbox Backup Creator.  It can be used to rip and burn games.  Schtrom does the same thing...just a different program.

Thanks everybody for the advice so far.

when you rip with the 162, it rips all necessary sectors for current xtreme firmware, SS, dmi, and pfi? i forget the names, but it does all three, ready to go in the image.

The only place I can find one to purchase is on Ebay.....$60 after shipping.

Dabs.com has them in stock. That may of course be different in the US. I just ordered another which has already been shipped
Yes it will rip Xbox 1 games, but you still have to convert to an XISO afterwards using qwix etc so it makes the process a bit long winded

162 = The model number of the drive Samsung SHD 162C
Yes the 360 will play Xbox 1 backups but only if on DL media and created the same way you create a 360 game
