Verbatim is not the brand to use because it will give open tray error messages!!!!!!! as you have read all over the forum. I dont know who or why or what started this big rumor about using Verbatim discs. yes they are ok but the root of the open tray error. Verbatims are 2 one thousands of an inch thinner than originals so the laser height would need adjusted for this disc, but most work ok. Please take my word for it or spend a lot of headache and money on Verbatim. Memorex is the best for Xbox360 and this is 100% TRUE. NEXT CHOICE IS TDK THEN VERBATIM. Try MEMOREX and you will be thanking me
Really? And since you are so clearly educated in media, it amazes me that you didn't even bother to mention one simple fact. . . .THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A MEMOREX DISC!!!!!!!!!!!!! They could be Ritek, Ricoh or CMC Mag produced and there is no telling which one you are going to end up with or which quality standards have been applied from batch to batch. TDK is similar although they do make SOME of their own media. People can't seem to get it through their heads that because a particular configuration happens to work for them that it is the best quality media. I'm sorry that you seem to be having trouble with Verbatim but then again 360 DVD-ROM drives aren't exactly the mark of high quality.

with me ...
memorex - barely 1/4 of the spindles work with any drives I have flashed....
TDK - have pretty good success... however I have noticed recently that a COUPLE of my hitachi drives I have flashed do not read quite so well and give open tray ... reburn and yes it will probably work.. but it seems I also had over heating issues on some drives...
verbatim - so far all have worked across the board (I have switched to this brand)
This is all done with 111d pioneer with 119 firmware using clone cd for burning.
I believe alot of these open tray messages are as gary opa has pointed out... people need to flip the disk over and see if there is 2 tones in the burn... this is more than likely a buffer underun while burning. I am not saying this is all the reason but it IS alot of the reasons. Along with burner type, media, burn speed, and 360 drive version...there are alot of variables it can still be.
A well thought out and phrased post. Thanks much man, you said it better than I could.
