Hitachi 47 Dj Back Up Questions

Firmware: Garopa v2.3 w/ stealth

Drive is a Hitachi 47 DJ.

I've got my verbatim disks, and a pioneer 111D burner.

Been following hitachi/samsung tutorial v4.1 and not succeeding.

My question is: How does everyone rip the games succesfully? I had the movie in the drive, ejected and swapped in the Gears of War game disk. It did rip a rather large file (7gb or so).

I'm trying to find a route that doens't involve having to take the dvd drive top off and swap disk....
