I had a similar problem a few months back. My 360 loved the Verbs and then all of a sudden all new burns on Verbatims would either refuse to load or load 1 time out of 20 or so. My solution was to switch to DataSAFE / TraxDATA discs and now everything works flawlessly again.

Very weird.

My previous Verbatim backups work too.  I recently worked away for a few months and my 360 didn't really get much play at all and for a short while after I got back the Verbs started working again but now I'm using it every day for a few hours at a time the verbs are once again very hit and miss so I suspect it might be a laser power issue maybe with mt system  blink.gif

Yup.  To be honest that is where most of the problems are these days.  There are so many steps in the extraction and creation of the image and if you get even one step wrong, nothing else matters, it isn't gonna work.  360 modding is still in it's infancy as far as I am concerned and there really isn't an exact science to it yet.

Didn't work...NOW i'm open to suggestions.

And this time I tried to use XBC to write the disc (which I had never done b4) and that gave me a power calibration error quarter way through..so YEAH 2 Coasters on this one baby.

One thing that bugs me it that this all started right after I performed an update off my NHL 2k7 original disk. I don't go on live so I don't have the fall update 06.

I suppose I could try a Pot Calibration but would a weak laser cause the newer games only to crap out during loading screens, and at the same points. Getting back to my original point- are the newer games different?

Don't think there is anything different with the new games. I've backed up both marvel ultimate alliance and splinter cell , both are fine for me. Used Xbox backup creator and a samsung 162C with kreon 0.81 to do em smile.gif.
Although now you mention it , splinter cell also spins down for me , how ever it does go back to full speed. Goes like this , full speed , then drops speed at main menu , then goes back to full as soon as you hit new/load game.

Using a samsung ms28 with 4.2A to play em , also they are both on verbatim (all I use).

Thanks Min.  I just have a dilema on my hands in that I don't know anyone else who has their 360 modded so it's not like I could take my disks to another sammy and clear them of fault. Reading and Reading the facts has gotten me more unsure of the issue- hardware or software..actually even more complicated then that- pc hw, pc sw, 360 hw, or 360 sw. Or some ridiculous combination of the 4.

I've even gone to the extent of ordering a Pioneer 111D after placing no trust in my SONY DW-D22A (LITEON) burner. Jesterace gets mad props if thats the case.

I have a few other promising prospects

More to come...Stay tuned

Splinter Cell on verbatims do this for me:

BOOTS FINE FULL SPEED
INTRO MOVIE PLAYS FINE
PRESS START'S ALL GOOD
Select SINGLE PLAYER is GOOD
loading solo mode... good
loading screen right after that with the movie that plays (doesn't actually get to the movie),
Just blue-green frame..SPIN DOWN
BOOM, DIRTY DISC ERROR

Min, are you in the US. Would you let me mail you my burns to test them for me? Would anyone with a samsung be up for that? I'm in NYC.

I would love to stop pouring dough into this stupid shit. I could easily see myself pissing hundreds of dollars away just to figure out exactly whats wrong.

I had a similar problem for a while. Try defragging your hard drive. CloneCD is not that robust with regards to hard drive slowdown / burn proof delays etc. It may burn zeros during a 'loss of communication' etc. without saying so in the log.
