I have a Hitachi GDR-3120L v46 model dvd rom and have sucessfully patched the firmware with xtremes latest. However, there doesn't seem to be any programs that support this model such as XBC and Schtromv3. Is there an alternative method to backing up?

The only alternative is by pulling you're XBOX drive out, hooking it up to the PC to do the backups.....which is a PITA IMHO!

I have been pulling the drive out and hooking it up to my PC with the connectivity kit by Xecutor. XBC gives an error stating that it cannot unlock the game partition and the other app just doesn't recognize my hitachi drive... what a PAIN!

For those who don't know, it's perfectly ok to rip a game with any dvd burner. As long as you take it apart and use the hot swap method, all you have to do is find the ss.bin file on any available online sites.

Yeah this has been discussed b4, you can rip a 360 game with any dvd drive by using the ripper method. Just hot swap using a huge dvd movie.

To the original question, you could copy a 360 game in one step if you had a standalone drive for ripping in your pc. There would no longer be a need to extract the ss.bin and merge it later, or flash your drive back and forth all the time.
I'm not 100% but I think the "stealth" had to do with making it harder for M$ to tell if your hitachi was altered, sumthing about spitting out random security sectors. But don't quote me on that  wink.gif
