maybe you should have updated with the original and not the backup.

Should that matter?  If the disc is corrupted, surely the 360 with all its security will not allow the update to go through.  Fact is all my other disc works including the original NFS:Carbon even after this update.

I'm more intrigued by why this backup disc went ahead to update my 360 without problem but now treats it as a unrecognized disc.  One more thing to note, I've have not done the notorious fall update.

Another thing I forgot to mentioned was that this time was the first time I used Schtrom 3.1 to rip.  I was using 3.0 all this while ok.

I am intrigued how you could buy a game and not even try the original before backing it up. How do you know the original is good? You can't have put in the original as that would have carried out the update

After NFS Carbon update my dash now says 2.0.2868.0, it was previously 2.0.2858.0.

Strangely can't find anything on what 2.0.2868.0 changes.

I had the same problem.  Used Xbox Backup Creator to make a backup of carbon, and it won't work.  Every other game I have, had no issues being backed up with this method, same method same media, etc etc.

Ok so now we have 2 similar problems but ripped with different tools (Schtrom & XBC)

We read about some new EA games fooling around with the SS but c4e and garyopa have addressed it.

How about Schtrom and XBC?  Is their SS ripping the issue here?

Hey, Having a similar problem also. I'm getting "damaged or dirty". I just backed up and my disk seems fine. I never got an update from either my original or my backup. I also used the 3.1 tool w/ xtreme 4.2b

I've had damaged/dirty disc errors too with this one, try burning it at a slower speed, seems to help.

Well i have a different problem. I havent updated my dash with the fall update, with that said I am having a issue with the backup of this game. I can get it to play but about 5 mins into it the video cuts out and the screen flickers and and goes black.

Now I did update my 360 from the disc when asked. I only have this problem with this game as its not an issue with heat. All my other games and backups play fine.

I burned it with clone and used verbs as with all my backups and I have a hitachi drive.

Yeah first thing to do is clean the disc these discs are crap plus u got to think that we are writing every sector then try Schtrom360XtractV3.0 c what htat does because thats what my only solution also i made it copy at max  speed since i noticed that my 360 was reading it funny?

go try that?

Cant be, I`ve backed up FIFA 07 and NFS Carbon with Xbox Backup Creator, Burnt at 2.4 Speed on Verbatim and they work perfect, Im running the fall update on the xbox with the Hitachi 47DJ Drive. Im using PAL so maybe its a region problem because Tiger Woods 07 NTSC original didnt work.

I have also backed up NFS:Carbon and it works perfectly fine and I took the update using the backup instead of the original as well.  No issues here.

Also as an fyi I was using the s162c to backup and LG-4163B to burn.
