Make sure you check that you have the following:

1) Latest firmware on your DVD burnner

2) Make sure that it is setup to Primary Master

3) The Drive is set to DMA in your BIOS

4) Get Verbatim DVD +R DL Media

5) Upgrade to the latest Xbox Backup Creator. I believe version 2.3.0.185 is the latest and the time of this writing.

6) Make sure that the burnner is connected using an 80 pin IDE cable

7) Get the liteon booktype Setting program and set the DVD +R DL boot type to DVD-Rom. You can get it at the liteon site using this URL  http://www.liteonit....BookType135.zip

I hope that helps

Getting Error Burning Backups
« Reply #3 on: November 02, 2006, 11:46:00 AM »

I've been having the exact same problem. At first i burnt 2 successfull backups, everything was working fine but suddenly xbox backup creator stalled when reading the disc for about 2 minutes then came up with that error. Tried it again with another disc and it stalled again for two minutes but then started writing and have a perfect backup. It didn't stall the first few times it just kicked in straight away but now it stalls every time.

I'm only able to use xbox backup creator as this works sometimes, clone cd and imgburn both fail every time.
I find that rebooting just before doing a backup each time helps but i'm struggling to find out what is going wrong. I have successfully burnt 5 backups but have wasted 7 discs because of this error. I've been advised to make sure the burner is set to master and to have it on it's own 80 pin IDE cable.
I currently have it set to slave with another drive on the same cable. I'm gonna try change this around and try the other methods suggested above.
If anyone finds a proper fix please let me know cos it's really annoying!!

Thanks

FYI
I'm using Pioneer 111d burner
Verbatim 8.5gb DVD+R discs
XBOX Backup Creator ver: 2.3

Tried changing the drive to master. It's now on it's own 80 pin cable. Changed drive to DMA in BIOS, updated firnware and still getting the same error.

Anyone got any ideas?
