Why Would A Backup Only Work Once?
« on: October 26, 2006, 06:41:00 AM »

Just tried a re-burn at 2.4x with CloneCD -- same result.  It'll read the original, but not the backup.  When the backup is inserted, it will make a "beep" of sorts (sounds more like a buzzer), but will just simply say "Open Tray."

Any help is appreciated.

Try 2 things. 1st search for "open tray error" and find the solution that has helped others and try it out. If it still doesnt work then try differnt media, verbatims. All across the forums they have been noted as best compatible and most effecient. Either way you should look into get verbatims for any further backups. But definitely look into the "open tray error" and see if teh rubber band trick helps you out.

Well I tried a 3rd burn on Verbatim media and it did not play either.  I tried the "rubber band" trick and now all 3 of my burns work.  Thanks a lot for the help.  Hopefully other people will learn of this as well.

Another happy X-S Customer.  cool.gif

Hmmm... wasn't the 4.2 firmware updated specifically for this reason alone - to no longer need to use JayQue's rubber band mod?  So why did this guy still have to do it with 4.2?  I mean, if the 4.2 firmware doesn't help in preventing the open tray errors, then what does it do ?

the 4.2a/b was supposed to assist i believe with bootup/recognition times, i think a lot people may have mistook that for open-tray fix.  I did not hear of one person not having the open tray problem after applying the 4.2 firmware(without the rubber fix).  The Rubberband fix is the best thing for this.
