Hatachi Help For You *revised*
« on: October 16, 2006, 11:30:00 AM »

Well what can i say besides i have prefected the art of the Hitachi 47d and backups.  After many nights of
no sleep and reading many many fourms i have found the secret to flashing and backing up.  So I have decided
to post how i got from where you are right now to a new found user of the backup system.  Just so you know you
will be spending some time on this so please do not get frustrated.  It will be worth it in the end.

Bringing Virgin to Slut...the easy way..

Tools used to do the dirty work:

Hardware:

Xbox 360 with the Hatachi 47d
a DVD rom in your computer with the top removed (I'm using an old 16x Toshiba DVD drive, works great)
Torqe screwdriver set (i think it's a T10)
A computer that has a SATA port
Sata cable
DVD+R DL drive in the computer (Look for the supported DVD+R DL drives on xboxscene.com) i have a SONY-DRU800A
For the CD's i went out to walmart and picked up some HP DVD+R DL discs.
Ball point pen

Software:

WinRar (www.winrar.com) you need this to extract all of the files
Mirc (www.Mirc.com) you need this to get the files from xbins
flashfxp (www.flashfxp.com) you need this to get on the xbins ftp
SS-Merge (http://www.xbins.org) Use there FTP, you can get on from IRC
Slax Linux CD (http://www.xbins.org) Use there FTP, you can get on from IRC
Maximus-Garyopa_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_2_Stealth (http://www.xbins.org) Use there FTP, you can get on from IRC
Maximus_garyOPA_2_2_Stealth_RevisedBats (http://www.xbins.org) Use there FTP, you can get on from IRC
wxRIPPER (http://gael360.free.fr/)  Use this to rip your games.
CloneCD (http://www.slysoft.com/en/clonecd.html) Use this to burn your games.

Before you get started:

Go ahead and burn the Slax Lunux Boot cd.  You will need this cd soon.

Getting to the Hitachi:

Ok so you have read this helper this far you understand that you will void the warranty on your xbox 360
If you just got your xbox i would wait out the 3 months to mod.  Or until the warranty is out.

Go ahead and open your xbox 360.  You can find many ways of doing this.  You can use the Plastic CD trick
but that never worked for me i had to just use a flat head and pry the box open from the back.  Once you
remove the case and the two grey plastic sides you will be left with a metal tin and the top of the xbox
on the bottom you will see a few screws on the outside.  These screws are holding the top of the case to the
metal part.  Use your Torqe screw driver to remove the outside screws and the two screws in the middle. This will
allow for you to remove the top of the xbox. You might want to remove the Eject button so you don't break it.  Do
not worry you can replace the eject button later. go ahead and pull out the CD-ROM drive make sure that it is
the Hitachi 47 or a model lower than the 59.  The new one 89?!? has not been hacked yet as they have added a new
firmware.  Remove the Sata cable that is attached to the Hitachi.

Hooking it up to the computer:

Ok so there is no pretty way of doing this.  Find a way to get a Sata cable to hook up to the Xbox 360 Hitachi
drive while the drive is still hooked up to the power on the xbox 360. Make sure that you have the power cable
on the xbox 360 plugged in along with the video cable.  You do not need to have it hooked up to the TV.  This is
where it really gets fun.  Go ahead and Turn on your Xbox.  Once it is on go ahead and turn on your PC.  Go into
the BIOS and make sure that it is set to boot to the CD-ROM in your PC first.  Before you save and exit put in
the SLAX boot cd.  Save and exit the bios.  Once it boots you will see the big Clover, go ahead and hit Enter
it will go through a few steps and you will see where it finds the X-Box 360 DVD-ROM and put's it in Mode B
thanks to (kev).  Once you see this go ahead and hit the Restart button on your computer. Load up into windows. If
you get to your bios and it just hangs use that ball point pen and push the eject button (Lower left of the XBOX).
and that should get you in.

Using Windows to Flash your Drive:

Once you load into windows you will notice that you have a new CD-ROM drive.  If you have an XBOX 360 game in the
drive you will notice that there is a drive that says XBOX360.  If you do not see this try the Slax CD trick again.
Open and extract Maximus-Garyopa_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_2_Stealth.rar to c:\xbox360.  Next open and extract
Maximus_garyOPA_2_2_Stealth_RevisedBats.rar to c:\xbox360 overwriting the files.  goto Start--Run type in
CMD and hit OK.  type in  "cd\" hit enter. type in "cd xbox360" hit enter.  If your XBOX360 drive is your "E:" drive
this is what you would type in.  "FLASH22S E: 12345" what this will do is create a folder called 12345 in the
c:\xbox360 folder.  This will start the flash process and when it says "flash XTREME 100" that means you have
flashed the drive and you are good to go.

What is the SS (Sector Security) file and why it's needed:

Ok from what i have been reading i can tell you this.. You can not get a backup to work without getting the
SS.BIN file from the game.  While you have just flashed your Hitachi drive you can get the SS.BIN from the game
you want to backup. Put the game you want to backup into the xbox drive if it's not already in there.  Goto start-
run type in "cmd" hit ok.  goto your c:\xbox360 folder and run the "GETSS.BAT E:" this will extract the SS.BIN
save this file to your xbox360 folder.

Backing up your game:

You might read alot of people saying hey you can just use ISOBuster and blah blah blah... i have made many costers
using ISOBuster it's not even funny.  I would recomend at this point that you get all of the SS files from your
games and put your xbox back together.  Now is when you use that wxRIPPER.  extract that to c:\xbox360\wxRIPPER.
if you run wxripper and it does not load that means you need the .net 2.0 frame work. you can get that here.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

Ok so by now you have got a dvd-rom drive sitting on top of your computer without the top of it attached..right?
if not that is what you need to do.  I know it's crazy but it will save you alot of time trying to make backups
with your Hatachi. Unscrew your DVD rom from the bottom.  Take off the top and there might be a few screws holding
the white plastic magnet on.  This is what you need to be able to take off and put back on. you can go here to find
out what your drive should look like.

http://www.clevermod.com/index.php?article=12

Ok so you have the top off of your dvd-rom and your ready to go.  Go ahead and pick out a dvd in your collection
i use The Matrix for this little trick but i know that any Lord Of the Rings will work just great!  Load up
WXRIPPER.exe. put in your DVD of choice and wait for windows to find it.  On wxripper click on Hotswap/Find Magic
number.  Once it finds this number goto Hotswap/Stop drive.  Remove the DVD by lifing up on the plastic white thing
on the DVD rom drive. Place in your XBOX360 game.  Put the plastic white thing back ontop of the drive. goto Hotswap
/spin drive.  Now here is where most people mess up.  Usualy they would just start the dump but unless you have got
the magic dvd drive that doesn't error on anything.  Goto File/Export file.  save the file to c:\xbox360.  Goto that
file open it up with Notepad. it will look something like this

C19408
J2345234
C2344444
D4432342
J23423543
C3245345555

All of those numbers are just made up from the top of my head.  but this is what you want to do.  The first three

C19408
J234555
C2344444

Replace what ever the first letter is weather it is a C,or a J replace it with a D so it should look like this.

D19408
D234555
D2344444

Click on File/Save.

Back on wxripper goto file/open and open that file.  You will see in WXRIPPER it says DUMMY,DUMMY,DUMMY as the first
three catagories.  Go ahead and click on File/Start Dump.  If you are backing up Dead or Alive 4 save the file to
c:\xbox360\doa4.iso  When this file is complete it should be about 7,329,329 gig big or somewhere around the 7.3gb
range.  If you get anything lower than 7 gig that means that there is something wrong.  Send me a message im on the
xbox-scene alot i will be more than happy to help you out.

Merge your image:

Ok so you have made the SS.BIN for your game and you have your <game>.iso.  extract ss_merge to c:\xbox360\SS merge.
go ahead and run the .exe and it should load a nice little prog. Select Your ISO File,Select Your Security Sector
When it asks to check against the online database, choose "NO"  Ignore all colors (red, green, doesn't matter).
Ignore all settings. They will auto-select when you load the files. Leave them be. click on Merge.  it will create
a .dvd file in your c:\xbox360 folder

Burning:
Install CD CLONE, click on File/Write from file.  Select the .dvd and burn the game.

Put the game in your XBOX 360.. I hope that this will work for you as it has for me.  If not keep on looking
im sure that someone has had the same issue that you have had..Google.com  it's your friend.

Any help appreciated, Thanks thade

I don't think that you can be running a Raid with the sata drives.  I remember reading that you will have issues if raid is turned on.  And yes this should work with the 46d.

are you getting the error right after you swap the movie dvd to the game? are you swapping without ejecting? maybe the dvd you're using is smaller then the game. i really don't know what the problem could be since i've never had that error.

I've found this tut very good... as I found metaphazes'.

Here's where I'm having an issue... I'm getting the "insert dvd into a 360 console" or whatever the exact verbage is, regardless of the title in question (so far, NHL 07, Fear, NFS Carbon)  Some details...

Hitachi 59DJ
First flashed with garyopa 2.2 - 8in1 with revised bats, then restored and flashed with Birdy's Xtreme 1.3.  (I've read that someone did this and it worked... no luck with mine).
Used drive tools to get the ss.bin with the drive attached to my PC.
Used the disc swap method recommended by spider in this thread.  Got some great feedback on my layout file, since I was getting CRC errors.  Once corrected, nothing but DONE's in wxripper.
Used ssmerge to create the .dvd file.
Used Clone (downloaded 3 days ago) to burn, on Verbatim +R DL discs.

I've also confirmed that my Pioneer 111D came with fw 1.23, which I've also upgraded to the latest 1.29.
No change whatsoever.

If anyone sees a problem with the above, I'm all ears... I certainly don't see it.

the only different thing i did, i flashed with opa's 2.1 7in1. could be a problem with pioneer 111d's fw 1.29.

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?sho...oneer+111d+1.29

but it sounds like you tried it with the 1.23. sorry can't think of anything else.

Here's a follow up question... since EVERY single copy I produce results in a "put dvd in a 360 console" error, is it possible that my Pioneer-111D burner doesn't have the bitsetting correct?  Doesn't that error suggest that the 360 thinks every disc I've produced is a movie?

Is there a way to confirm that my burner has the bitsetting set to ROM?
