if you modded it,and voided the warranty, dont blame MS.

they do have a 1 year warranty now.

i saw a similar post to this, try and find it, maybe they found a solution.

Double check the power cord for the dvd drive is connected properly.  I had this issue with my hitachi after doing the two wire trick.  Worth a shot at least.
