Hitachi 59dj: Unrecognized Disc On Backups
« on: October 06, 2006, 09:58:00 AM »

I have successfully flashed my 59DJ drive using the OPA 2.1 firmware, yet I am unable to produce a working backup. I am using the following procedure to produce backups:

1. Extract SS using Drive Tools: Seems OK.

2. Rip game iso using wxripper: OK - No CRC errors.

3. Merge SS and iso using SS Merger.

4. Burn DVD file using imgburn.

At the SS/iso merge stage, SS Merger is showing red rather than green, but I have tried using getss.exe to extract the SS and I get exactly the same SS.

I am using a Pioneer 111D and Verbatim DVD+R DL so all the usual bases appear to be covered. I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Even though the Pioneer/Hitachi combo doesn't usually require the combo, have you tried the latest mediacheck firmware for the Hitachi.  That can solve a number of problems for you. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I had exactly the same problem with the 59dj. It would appear that these drives cant extract the ss.bin properly as I can get my backups to work with downloaded ss files.
