No problem, and sorry for the confusion. I just ment, do I need to have my 360 drive hooked up to my PC everytime I need to make a back-up playable?

Are you asking if you have to have the drive hooked up to the PC when booting a backup...or when making one?  Your last word in that question threw me off.
