Personally I've burned a few games on Memorex DVD+R 2.4x media in a Memorex external 8x drive (no particular brand loyalty, thats just the only discs they had at Circuit City and the drive is a rebadged Lite On).  Some worked, some didn't.

What surprises me here is that not one single person has tried Taiyo Yuden discs?  Taiyo Yuden discs are the absolute best in terms of quality for every other application in the world, so I assumed I'd come in here and find everyone saying to pay the extra coin and look for the "Made in Japan".  You won't find them in your local store probably, but as far as consistency and dye quality, they're supposed to be the best.  I'll have to get a pack and test them out and report back on my findings.

not sure if that drive has bitsetting, if it does, you have to see if you have to enable it first. the dvr-111d is automatic.

as for the aspi drivers, just do  search for force aspi.

Motherboard: ASUS A7N8X w/ latest Bios (1010)
SATA card: VIA VT6421A using the INTERNAL port (thanks Ebay)
DVD ROM: Sammy SH-D162C flashed w/ Kreon.81 (Primary IDE)
Burner: Pioneer 111D flashed with dangerous brothers 1.29 FW (Slave IDE)
Media: Verbatim DVD+R DL
360 Drive: MS25 flashed w/ 4.2a using textbooks guide via floppy

For backups:
Using Schitrom 3.1 to rip and Imgburn to burn at 2.4X all backups work 100%

Thanks to all for the help!!!!

360 Drive: MS25 with Xtreme42_Update (4.2b)
Burner: NEC DVD_RW ND-3550A 1.06 (F:) (ATA)
Media Type: DVD+R DL (Disc ID: RITEK-D01-01) (Speeds: 2.4x)
Software: ImgBurn, CloneCD, Nero

The media I am using are Memorex branded DVD+DL, but obviously are Ritek as mentioned above.
They were 25 for $35.

Works good!
