Verbatim Dvd-r Dual Layer Work, And Burning Backups
« on: September 09, 2006, 07:07:00 PM »

Hey, i recently bought a packet of 5  dvd-r dual layer verbatim discs i only realised they were dvd-r once they were opened, will they still work?

and how do you burn a backup of a 360 game, because when ever i throw the backup into my 360 drive it loses it 0800 mode option, is there nay way to get around this or can  i burn it a different way, ie PC DVD-Rom?

Thanks in Advance

id get the +R if you can, -R is going to be overall less compatable.

and your second question doesnt make sense to me, step by step, how are you backing up your games, and what are you flashed with...

0800 mode is only for extraction.

Nope, that is the bitch of the format.  Can't change the booktype and by nature the D/L DVD-R format is less compatible.  Honestly I don't know what to tell you other than to try the Layer Jump Recording feature of Nero.  If that doesn't work then nothing will.

Will a Verbatim DVD-R DL work? My place is selling Verbatim DVD-R DL @US$24.8 for 10 disc in a cake box instead of US$31.80 for Verbatim DVD+R DL 10 disc. Since DVD-R DL is cheaper for me, i had bought DVD-R DL instead. Is there any special step to take for burning backup into DVD-R DL disc?

Yeah, the special step is forget about it.  DVD-R DL will not work.

Totally in agreement - avoid -R DL - the layer break specs of it are not the same as +R DL, other subtle differences which are enough to burn a bad game. Terrible mistake to make too - once opened, im sure you can't return them either... (I bought 3 fuji's that looked like they were burnt with asetone, got an exchange)

And yeah 0800 - that mode is only used to extract Security Sectors. You should never let your dvd go into  0800 mode while connected to your xbox360...

I backed up NHL 07 last night - it updated my dashboard... one of these days - that update might be the one we all fear... if the dashboard detects a 'windows enabled' dvd-rom - you might have problems.

I love it.

strange - i have yet to see with my own eyes a -R DL tho...

Guess my town hasn't been polluted with them yet...

 unsure.gif  huh.gif

1. if they were created by you - one could only assume that you have the originals.
2. If you have the originals - why go through the headache of backing up a backup. (which is not allowed to be talked about here.... so move along if so)
3. 'will i need' only leads me to believe you do not have...
4. 'i wanted to copy them again' just gave it away...

Sorry brother...

Move along.
