360 Drive: Hitachi 47DH With ver 1.0 + Geremia media hack applied manually
Burner: Pioneer 110D
Media: RiDisc (Ritek D01) and MrDVD (CMC-MAG)
Speed: 2.4x
Program: CloneCD and ImgBurn

All the 360 updates from Live (Silver account) applied on a UK launch premium XBOX360

Over 60+ games (self-patched and pre-patched) ALL worked first time.

I don't play online and I don't see the need to update my firmware with every release unless my current version no longer works (as was the case with the Fall update and some of the ms28 Samsung drives)

Cheers,
J.

i spent a few days searching for success AND failure stories regarding my memorex drive and that really helped me out a lot to find the *winning* combination of apps that work with this older burner. unfortunately, i made 5 coasters to begin with, but everything is working now and i am very glad i did not have to buy another burner. the 25pack of +R9 media i purchased from newegg.com came with a free shipping plus a 512 mb sd card too so that is a nice bonus.

-Samsung SH-D162C w/TS04_XB360_KREON_V081 to avoid having to make a pc<>360 connection
-Xbox_Backup_Creator_v2.3.0.185 to backup my games straight from the d162c
-Memorex DVD16+/-DL4RWlD2 burner w/patched JS0D FW for LiteOn DVDRW SOHW-1673S for media compatibility; the JWS6(stock) firmware also worked for my current media
-RiDATA 25 pack +R/DL(RITEK_S04) was my choice for +R9 media; claims to be up to 8x compatible
-LiteOn BookType135.EXE to adjust +R9 media to DVD-ROM booktype before each burn
-CloneCD v5.2.9.1 to burn perfect discs at 2.4x; imgburn, xbc and nero all burn coasters for me
-all successful burns are working well on my 360 w/Hitachi-LG v47DH & Maximus-Garyopa_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_3_Stealth

i also learned enough to bring my oldest burner, a Samsung TS-H552b, back to life so now i am going to see about making backups with that drive too.

no love with my h552b yet, but someone else has a post in this section about it so hopefully i can figure that drive out soon...

in the meantime, i wanted to figure out why clonecd worked and the other apps failed so i have tried a few more burns with this memorex drive and ended up with some good results. in fact, both imgburn and xbox backup creator are now burning my backups properly so i did not figure out why they failed earlier, but i am chalking it up to being too tired. maybe it was simply the older FW, but everything works well enough now.

i have not tried burning with nero because i was not planing to use it for xbox 360 backups. i actually tried nero the other night hoping it would work when nothing else was working; so i skipped it this time.

just tried heres what i found

360 drive= hitachi 59dj with xtreme 2.3 stealth
burner= pioneer 111d
games= gears of war & madden 07
ripped with= samsung sh-d162c
program(ripper)=xbox creator 2.3
burning app=xbox creator 2.3
speed= 2.4
dvd+r dl=ricoh( labeled as great quailty )

working= madden
yes on 1st try

working= gears of war
not working , loads to start screen then get disk read error

OS =XP x64 and win2k pro(sp4) dual boot

well i have a x64 system and the funny thing is it rips fine within xp , but when i try to burn with  xbox creator the app crashes
so i set a dual boot with win2k and it burns fine inside  there.

now im not sure weather i have a bad burn on gears of wars since it loads to the start screen ;reason being i bought dead rising and it does the exact same thing so im think i have a dvd issue , just can figure out how to trouble shoot it .
