Hitatchi Drive Compatability Thread
« Reply #135 on: May 22, 2007, 12:00:00 PM »

Just wanted to leave a report about my HD DVD Writer 740b. I didn't know if it would burn DVD+R DLs in the recommended Booktype: DVD-ROM - IT DOES!

For known reasons I haven't tested the result of my efforts (yet) on my Hitachi-LG 0047DJ (currently on original firmware) equipped Xbox 360 (not banned - yet).

mod version and drive version: Not sure about FW or drive version as i bought it pre-modded in May07)
burner: Pioneer 111D fw 1.29
software: xbox backup creator (current release) + image burn (current release)
media label: datawrite (1 euro/piece here in italy)
media id: CMC D04
write speed: 2.4X
games: call of duty 3 & rainbow six vegas

all working perfectly!
I know all the world says to buy the verbs, but for me (i've burned all kinds of media, from the most expensive and pretty hard to find verbatim to the cheaper CMC D04, passing through the mid-range ricohjp D01, and ALL work fine!) with pio 111d you could even burn a stone plate and it could work! I guess the media compatibility issue doesn't affect this steel balls equipped burner!

Wrong.  The burner and firmware are only part of the equation.  Alot of it also depends on your 360 DVD-ROM drive and firmware revision.  To say nothing of the fact that you don't know anything about the longevity of your cheap media.  Datawrite has a lovely history of quality cycles and bait and switch schemes too. wink.gif

of course, but i know the drive is an hitachi (given that we are on the hitachi thread  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ) and the soft mod is the latest extreme release.
Yes, i don't know anything about the longevity of the media, but if you have a pio 111d and you cannot find the damned verbs ANYWAY (and when you finally find them, the seller ask you EIGHT EURO/ piece  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) ), you can still use other media (in my case i found a bunch of kodak - ricohjpn d01 and datawrite - cmc mag d04 at 1 euro/piece) without any fear; they WORK fine.   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pop.gif)

Drive : Hitachi 47D
Firmware : C4EvA 2.4 XTREME STEALTH
Burner : Pioneer 112D (stock)

SET 1 : Verbatim DVD +DL / Shadowrun, Saints Row, Flatout Carnige all work perfect load every time.

SET 2 : TDK DVD +DL / Lost Planet, The Darkness, Flatout Carnige works when it suits the 360.
( Keep ejecting and loading till game finally loads )

Usually takes 4-5 tries before loading without unplayable/eject tray error

Will ixtreme 1.2 rev make a difference beside's Live ?

You clearly aren't shopping for the best price on Verbs then. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)  There is a nice guy in the US who can ship the MKM001 manufactured discs (Verbatim) over to you for less than 2 Euro per disc with shipping included.

@razor the firmware probably won't help with your media compatibility.  It's primary function is to help out with XBL.
