Backing Up Condemned Pal
« on: August 23, 2006, 12:01:00 PM »

OK, Just tried to back up Condemned (PAL edition) and got the now infamous 'To play this disc, put it in an Xbox 360 console' (Which as error messages go, makes little to no sense!)

Followed geebee's and MetaPhaze's guides, so what went wrong?

Procedure followed:
1) Flashed Hitachi 0046DH with OPA-XTREME-HITACHI-7IN1-V2_1.
2) Booted 360 into modeb (power on with tray open trick).
3) Used drive tools 1.01 (Build 0004) to extract SS, named it 'condemned SS.bin' (could that be the problem?  blink.gif ).
4) Used 'Underworld Evolution' DVD (7.87GB) to get magic number in wxripper, hot swapped to 'condemned' disk.
5) Had CRC errors so altered layout file to dummy 109344.
6) Dumped 'condemned.iso' to pc.
7) Merged 'condemned.iso' and 'condemned ss.bin' using SS merger v1.6.
8) Burnt using CloneCD 5.2.9.1 onto 2.4x Verbatim DVD+R DL with Pioneer DVR-111DSV.

Any1 shed any light on what I did wrong?  uhh.gif

EDIT:

Pioneer DVR-111D only has 1.19 firmware, should I update?

Also just found out I can't set the bitsetting of my 111D in DVDinfopro, could this also be a problem?

Nope, PAL console and PAL game...

I have read about the Hitachi and drive tools combo not extracting the SS correctly, so gonna start from the beginning again tonight, see if I can sort it out..

Also gonna try backing up my entire game collection (all 4 of them!) at some point, just to see if it's just my Condemned disc (looks a bit dirty and i'm sure there's a little scratch on it!)

I believe it only works on Hitachis flashed with OPA-XTREME-HITACHI-7IN1-V2_1

1) Connect 360 DVD to PC
2) Power on 360
3) Eject drive tray
4) Remove power lead from 360 (leaves DVD tray open)
5) Power on 360
6) Power on PC

This trick can't be used for the initial flashing, you have to use one of the other methods first...
