It's possibly you're burner, I got the NEC 3550A and couldn't get my backups to work...

I've recently ordered a Pioneer 111D, and that seems to be the burner of choice at the moment...

Thanks guys.

I just got this error with my Sony Dru-820a. I am going to order the Pioneer tomorrow and see if that helps.

I have successfully flashed my hitatchi v47 drive with the xtreme 2.1 firmare using the OPA-XTREME-HITACHI-7IN1-V2_1 which worked fine.

I have tried both RiDisc (Ritek g01?) and the holy grail verbatim 2.4  DVD+RDL discs. I am burning them using CloneCD at 2.4x. I have set the bitsetting of my writer (which is a NEC ND-3250A) to DVD-ROM for the dual layer discs with still no luck. I have also tried burning with NEC ND-3550A with still no luck.

Oh - thought verbatim discs WERE the holy grail...? Must be some other thread im thinking of  wink.gif

Buy a Pioneer writer. And all your problems will be solved.

Hi, it must be your burner......I had the same problem using my NEC 3520 & NEC 3530 (both flashed with the latest bitsetting FW) & had no luck with either. My solution was to buy the Pioneer 111D & I have had no problems since.....even on really cheap discs (Infiniti DVD +r DL) Hope this helps  smile.gif

need i say more .. (re hitachi compatibility and samsung compatibility threads)

"even on really cheap discs"...

THANK YOU.

edit -
I just danced a pioneer jig... and im at work... and people looked at me weird... back to configuring switches :S
