I've been doing a lot of reading - seems nobody with an LG DVD writer has gotten a backup to work with a Hitachi v47 drive.
Wondering if someone can verify working or not working with game backups created with this writer.
I used the LG 8163b with WxRipper, also may be a bad idea.
Looking to get a Pioneer 111D, I've been hearing good things about this writer...
Off topic - anyone verify Hitacy v47's ability to get security sectors? I hear getss.exe doesn't work well - Drive info is a good way, and DVDInfo Pro is a way to go aswell.
+++ Are ss.bin's supposed to be identical if you extract the security sector's twice??? +++
With this combonation of drives - and and using various tutorials - I've produced dirty disc games, and games which play the 'put the game in an xbox 360' video.
Alright - I have an answer for all these questions! READ UP
Pioneer 111D ABSOLUTELY CAN make backups - And as far as I know LG 4163B A102 CANNOT make games.
I bought myself a Pioneer DVR-111D today, and burned the exact same .dvd file as I did with the LG - i don't even think I bet-set the backup... but it booted on the 360 flawlessly.
God bless Pioneer.
So for all of you out there with LG burners and v47 Hitachi drives - please - save yourself the headache, and the environment - don't even bother.
And as far as Security Sector extraction being identical each time you extract - i don't think it matters - i was not confident this .dvd would work - but it seems it's good.
Again - I can't stress this - if you follow the tutorials - and you have decient hardware - you'll produce working backups. If anything is not right - you'll waste time and money.
Good thing tho - everyone's pit-falls save others from the same fate.
Pioneer 111D (Now a proud owner ... god bless)

Thanks to everyone here for their help - their efforts - and their struggles... I've made it across the finish line - hope everyone else makes it too.
