Game.iso Too Big?

I ripped a game and am left with an iso file. I then used iso builder included with xtreme firmware and patched the ss file. The rip is 7.05 gigs. After the ss patch the file is 7.29 gigs. I burned the image.000 with clonecd and I get unauthorized disc error. Why is the game size so big? Shouldn't it be 7.05 gigs after the ss patch also?
