Xbmc Pc Port
« on: April 13, 2004, 06:23:00 PM »

doesn't support Win98SE, so thats a Pain in the arse but thats not why I'm mad. I wanted 2 look at it an play with it since my XBOX isn't ready for it yet, so I downloaded it, then it said I needed .Net Framework or w/e, went to the site it sent me 2 an it's downloads wanted 2 patch the .Net framwork thats already on my system but I didn't have them, so I went to windows update, an after Hours of Slow Downloads, failed installs and extremly slow working Windows update, also having it crap out to, then finally get .Net Framwork downloaded an installed 2 run. I finally install the thing, then it doesn't friggin work! so I check the readme an it says windows 2000 or XP, that got me mad cuz it wasn't mentioned on XBOX-Scene.com in the new announcement on it, an theirs nothin on XBOXmediacenter.com about it being XP an 2000 only, so after all that work 2 get .Net Framework 2 install, just 2 install this thing, That! is what makes me Mad! sorry for the Rant, but I had 2 say that somewhere

I also had problems getting it running after getting the .net framework, turns out I didn't have directx 9 installed. Installed that, ran just fine.

I use W98SE and it works without problems. Anyway I think PC version of XBMC is pointless because it uses zoomplayer as the video player instead of mplayer.

well I didn't go to the message board link cuz I don't wanna hear tech Details, an fo the Jackass who said it's called a Readme for a Reason, 2 get to that Readme I had 2 go through the Setup, witch was a Pain in the Arse witch I hoped 2 be worth it, but it's not worth the Pain yet, but hopfully in the Future when the Bugs r worked out.

So it's everybody elses' fault that you had to go through all this trouble for nothing?    If you'd read the readme/nfo file that came with the binaries then you'd have known that w98 isn't supported?  C'mon, that's your failing.

I never said it was any of your faults, also quick the Beavis Line kid, they Were canceled for a reason. also I DID read the Readme dumbass, but I didn't get any Chance 2 Read it until I actually Installed the damn thing after the trouble, an now ur all blowing my small rant out of control, an your all not even gettin the point, I've already stoped really caring about a PC Port cuz I'll prolly be running it on my XBOX before it'll ever work on my PC
