My NEC 3540A works fine. Using RiDATA media currently from newegg.com.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

EDIT: again as i look at your post, its probably best over all for any backup to use a Liteon drive.

I've got an NEC 3500A with a hacked firmware that turns on bitsetting for both DVD+R and DVD+R DL.  Are we talking confirmation from people with just OEM firmware from the manufacturers, or modified firmware to accomplish the bitsettings?

doesnt matter which firmware you use for the nec drive ,

the backups will not work,

i dont know what you people are talking about

if you're smart enough to do bitsetting and keep that setting on the drive, it's fine
I've burned verbatim, memorex, and ridata, all of them work perfect on my hitachi drive, all work perfect on one friends toshiba-samsung, and only the ridata dont work on other friends ts drive

is this tried after MediaCheck v2 Patch?

from another post:
"Burner:  NEC 3550
Player: Hitachi 47 firmware 1.3 + mediacheck2
Media: Imation
Bitsetting Dvd-ROM

I had a no go with all my games, also with mediacheck1, but after mediacheck2, everythings boot like original. Boots from dash in no time, just like the original game"

LG GSA H 10A works.

Xbox 360 with LG-HITACHI 47dj
Geremia Hitachi-LG Mediacheck Patch v2 (7in1)
Verbatim 2.4x 8.5GB DVD+DL

The drive supports bitseeting.I chose dvd-rom and applied DVD+DL in dvdinfopro.
Burner is clonecd latest version.
Game is Ninety nine nights

i have a Hitachi drive for my xbox, and a Sony DRU-720A.  Sorry to sound so stupid, but is that the same as just the 720?  I tried burning onto a memorex DL, but the game didn't load.  I followed the directions for the dvd decrypter to burn (including setting the layer break to 1913760 and removing that line from the .dvd file.)  It didnt' work.  Is there somehting I'm still doing wrong?
