Removing "my Programs" From Menu
« on: April 13, 2004, 02:05:00 PM »

I don't want the "My Programs" tab listed when I start XBMC.  I know there was a way to do it with XBMP, is there any way to remove this, and "My Files", if possible, from showing up on the main menu?  <

I know in XBMP there was an option in the XML file that you could edit.  I believe the command was <visible>.  I don't see this in XBMC.  <

Try deleting this whole section.  <

I tried deleting the section...didn't work.  The reason that I don't like it there is because I want Xbox Media Center to be just that....a MEDIA center.  I know I may be anal, but all I want it to do is play my music, video, and picture files.  I'm not ready for it to be my dashboard yet.  <

Try what A600 pointed out!

Different skins have buttons in different places so i assume this is where you would need to edit. Jeez the answer is (probably) already here :)  <

I tried doing this.  I am using the skin that came with the RAR, and I tried removing the entries entirely for the "My Programs" and "My Files" tabs.  When I tried to run XBMC again, it froze.  What did I do wrong?  <

You probably messed up the tags.

And it isn't good enough to just remove them.

Please take a look at the onup and ondown.

could you elaborate on that? or, point me to someplace that will elaborate on that? I don't know what onup and ondown means.  <

Read skinning.txt I believe it is.

Onup means where to go when UP is pushed.  Ondown means where to go when DOWN is pushed.

If you take a look at home.xml you should be able to figure it out.

 Well, this worked for me.  I was trying to do the same thing.  I just renamed the first couple links to "My Videos" instead of "My Programs" and so on, and I got it to work.  Just play around with it and you should get it.  I also used the latest project mayhem skin (home.xml is more readable).  Hope this helps out.  <
