Burning Issues With Pioneer 111d/lg Drive
« on: August 13, 2006, 08:21:00 PM »

First off, all the info:

Pioneer 111D w/ 1.23 fw
LG xbox 360 drive, flashed with GaryOPA xtreme 1.3 fw flash
Verbatim DVD DL media
Clone CD 5.2.8.1 and DVD decrypter (burnt at 2.4x, tried 1.0x but it just forces to 2.4x)
POT of 360 drive adjusted from 3.84 to 3.00

The games boot with absolutely no problem, but it seems whenever any game goes to a "loading" screen, I get the dreaded "dirty disc" error.  This is especially true with dead rising and burnout revenge.  The weird thing is the error will occur once, but if I play the same part, it won't occur again.  It seems to be completely random, which is quite annoying.  If anyone has any suggestions, I would be glad to hear them.

Do you have the dangerous brothers firmware for your Pioneer which allows you to set the booktype to DVD-ROM (automatically) on D/L discs?  IMHO that is essential to ensure the best compatibility on your discs.  Great choice for a burner and media though. wink.gif

Does the pot of the 360 need to be adjusted with the media fix? I believe you could set it back to 3.84, and it would play better.

This theory has been proved incorrect, as I have the OEM 1.09 firmware on my 111D.

If it was me I would put the laser back where it belongs. I have not had to make any adjustments to my Hitachi 47DJ, nor to the firmware on my 111D

Burning with the 111d on Verbatim DL with OEM firmware 1.23 No issues in game play loading whatsoever. Using Hitachi 47DJ with Xtreme 2.1 No pot adjustments.

How does that prove the theory incorrect?  Can you set the booktype to DVD-ROM with your firmware?  Just because YOU made some working backups doesn't make the "theory" incorrect.  Yes, some people will be able to backup D/L DVD+R and get them working WITHOUT setting the booktype to DVD-ROM.  However, it has long been proven that those who set the booktype to DVD-ROM will experience the maximum amount of compatibility with all applications.  Sorry man but your ASSumption is the exact same as the people who use cheap crappy media (ie Princo) and assume that because it works for them that it is great media.  So congratulations man, but don't equate your success with being a universal constant when there is so much evidence out there to the contrary.
