Id suggest updating with the orignal game first, then using the backup.  My friend did that and it worked for him.

Not sure if it helps much.  I got my backup to work without the HDD attached. Maybe MS sent something to the HDD to block it from playing.

Heres a good trick, take out ur hard drive but move ur gamer profile to a memory card so u can save still, if u have a datel kit, copy your profile to your pc, then move ur profile backto the hard drive, then move the back up on your pc back to the mc so both your memory units will have your gamer profile, start the system with out the hard drive and presto;-) took me days to figure out hope that helps...

and to add to that, after you play the game to the first game save, save it and copy that save over to the Hard drive and this one you wont have to worry about taking out your hard drive in the future seeing as tho the game skips that initial loading screen after the 1st time of playing

I think you should make another copy with another media like Ridata.... i see many people in other forum that run copys of this game with no problems...  may the problem is you rip or the media...try again
Rgtg

Hmm, that makes sense.  Let's go from the best D/L media on the market (D/L Verbatim DVD+R) and go to some of the most unpredictable D/L media on the market which still costs a small fortune.  Bottom line folks Ridata=D/L Ritek which is well known for being hit and miss in compatibility.  Verbatim on the other hand is made by Mitsubishi Chemicals and is well known for it's high compatibility.  As always you need to make sure you are setting the booktype to DVD-ROM to ensure the best possible chance for compatibility and then of course also remember that the Hitachi drive modding is still in it's infancy and is hit and miss in and of itself.  So the problem could well be the drive.

Chopsticks, I think you're getting confused on what types of updates these are....

This is straight from the disc itself, not a live update.

If you had a 360, you might know that.

That said, I backed up my original and have been playing the backup, without issue.

I've never even played the og disc.

My backup only works without my harddrive connected, it hangs on certain load screen in the beginning before the first save point.  I tried removing the hard drive and saving to memory card at the first save point then copying it over to hard drive and it worked for a while. Soon after it froze again going to the rooftops in the beginning. When I copied profile and saved game back to memory card and removed my hard drive, voila, it works ok and doesn't hang going to the rooftop anymore.

There really is somethin wrong with this game, idk if its cause mine didnt update or what. Dead rising works perfect on my hitachi 360 and then on my samsung 360 it only works with the hd unplugged. When its plugged in, right when im bout to press start game i get the dirty disc error.

I guess I should also mention I've got a 59 hitachi, opa 1.3. It never asked me to update (I'm connected all the time)

Cmart, I believe this is only the spring update on the disc, if you're on live, you are already updated.

How can i tell if i'm burning coasters or if it's just my drive being picky about media? i have a hitachi 47 w/ verbatim media....   I've gotten the dirty screen about 100x (on 4 burns) and the please insert in an xbox 360 console screen twice.

My backup works just like my retail copy. Network cable plugged in and all.

same here, sorry to hear your backups arent working, i think its a bad dump. If your not already using the xtreme way, then try that, and use different media?  pop.gif
