Probably NOT !!! I think there made by CMC ?? . But I would suppose where and when you buy them as there are many dodgy disc's floating around. But hay !! why not just buy them, burn them and see if they work if you like wasting money.  biggrin.gif  Who knows they might work for a few weeks !!! blink.gif  Stick with Verbs !!!

I've been using Traxdata with fairly good success rate, but I won't be buying them again, now that I've found a nice little site that sells Verbatims cheap.  tongue.gif

thnx but i still wana know if the imation gonna work or no

on hitachi 46

There is no way to know for sure.  Don't trust the name brands, trust the media manufacturer ID code:

Imation could be any one of the following manufacturers:

1. Ritek D01

2. Ricoh

3. CMC Mag

The two oldest and most well tested of the D/L medias are Ritek D01 and MKM001 (the latter being the media ID that you find on the 2.4x-8x rated D/L Verbatim).  Of those two Verbatim (MKM001) has proven to be by far the most versatile for compatibility on any application and has also proven to be the most durable.

Ritek on the other hand has delivered very mixed results for all applications, it is further compounded by the fact that as of late Ritek's durability has been piss poor with entire batches becoming unreadable after less than a year.  Of course this isn't absolute but it certainly isn't uncommon either.

Ricoh and CMC Mag are relative newcomers to D/L media manufacturing.  The initial results seem to point to the fact that they are better than Ritek D01 but still a ways off from meeting Verbatim.  They are still too new and relatively untested to be sure though.

The bottom line is that the Hitachi drive is a gamble as is, even Verbatims won't work for some people.  So do you really want to be taking 4 gambles instead of one.  If you get Verbatim, you are taking a gamble on whether or not your Hitachi will read them.  With Imation you are gambling on all of the following:

1. Whether or not the Hitachi will be compatible?

2. What manufacturer you will end up with?

3. How well your drive and firmware revision burns that particular media manufacturer?

4. How durable the media will be (will it even last a year)?

I don't know of a single D/L burner that won't burn Verbatim D/L DVD+R well, since it was the media used to bench test the specs for most of the burners out there.

So tell me, is it really worth it?  Take a look at the price on the 20 packs at newegg when they come back in stock.  D/L media OF ANY KIND doesn't get much cheaper than that.  wink.gif
