Post Pi/po Error Scans Of Your Backups
« on: August 04, 2006, 07:23:00 PM »

ok , i know everyone has jumped on the 111d and verbatim bandwagon but...

i want to see some scans ,

-you can scan for pi/po errors only if your drives firmware supports it,
-you can use nero cd/dvd speed or the dvdinfopro
-limit the read to 4x with dvdinfo and 5x on neros cd/dvd speed

post the
-burner model
-firmware used
-"media code" of the dvd
-speed burned with
-the screenshots of the scans

there are free image hosting sites where you can post the images ,
http://www.imageshack.us/
http://www.freeimagehosting.net/
http://www.123pichosting.com/

i hope someone will participate  dry.gif

havent flashed the xbox yet , im waiting  for the new garyopas firmware

ok , i only have 2 different types of dvds for testing ,

ritek media is crap , i used 3 different firmwares with 3 different writing strategies for dvd+r9
and all the burns are just crap,

verbatim on the other hand is close to perfect ,

ok so i have
-NEC 3520
-firmware liggydee 3.07, also used 3.06 and 3.05 for ritek testing
-verbatim dvd+rDL 2.4x mkm 001 , "fujifilm" dvd+rDL 2.4x ritek d1 001
-all burned @ 2.4x, all set to dvd-rom booktype
-all scans done using the 3.07 firmware

verbatim mkm 001, firmware 3.07,very good quality burn , nero score 94, dvdinfopro score 94.60

IPB Image
IPB Image

Ritek d1 001 , firmware 3.07, terrible burn, nero score 46, dvdmedia score 0.0

IPB Image

ritek d1 001, firmware 3.06, i guess dvdinfo refused to scan the second layer for
 Pi errors

ritek d1 001. firmware 3.05

so there you have it,

ill post more if i get a hold of some other media ,

so you lazy bums with the allmighty 110, 111d post some scans of the media that you are using

I would've posted scans if I had a good drive to scan with. However I don't so I simply stick to testing them out and if they work good its a good backup... wink.gif

Your scans however are not visible, get another imagehost...

not visible? the images load for me just fine , anyone else not seeing it??

thats a damn good burn ,i have to give you that

but

ritek media is bad in general ,

there is few burners that can produce good quality burns with them,

i know my dvd burner cant write to them , why do you think i tried 3 different firmwares?

because the burn quality mostly depends on write strategy , and those firmwares i tried have different strategies for writing dvd+r9,

anyways , my NEC 3520 just got retired ,

111d is on the way

* a little off topic*

Everyone bashes Ritek media and says it's complete crap. On the GCN scene its another story. Ritek G04 and G05 are pretty much the only media that will work in a gamecube.

I have to lean toward the previous posters comments about media/burner compatibility. I've got a sony DRU-810A which is a re-badged benq, and will be getting my 111d later today, the only DL I've got at the moment are some 10x Verb's, I plan to pick up a smorgasboard of other media and check the quality of the burns.

I'm not going to skimp on media and put uneccesary wear on the 360 drive.

My .02, will post my findings later on.

This should prove an interesting topic, to say the least.

aggybong , you forgot to mention the burner and firmware you used ,

im gonna post some scans of ritek and verbatims made with 111d flashed to 111l ,

the ritek backups dont look much better than my nec burns , but at least now they work on the 360
