With that cable connected the DVD drive will never work (obviously), if you don't want it to show up in the menu just remove or comment out the following:

<bookmark>
<name>DVD</name>
<path>iso9660://</path>
</bookmark>

have you tried that dvd player in a comp so it realy works with those dvd media?

an xbox dvd has more tray options/triggers than a std comp dvd thats why you get those open init errors

yip it works perfect in my pc and avalaunch reads all my cds and it also says open but it reads fine.
In xbox Media Player no Problems.
But center will not read all my cds ok i found out that dvd cds write with the xboxformat read in the udf mode but the iso mode that i used for al my old cds will not work.

I can only say the iso thinningy will not work for my.

And i know that al my cd works in my xbox avalaunch and Xbox media player play them perfect. so there is something wrong in the iso read of xbox media center

but that is al i found out some cds work with the above settings but most of my iso9000 cds will not beread in the iso mode or udf mode so there most be something else that i can change in center to get the same result as in media Player.

Had a small chat with some of the others in the team:

just in cvs from runtime:

Fixed compatibility issues with PC-DVDROM, specify <usePCDVDROM>yes</usePCDVDROM> to enable compatibility with non-XBOX DVDROM drives. Note:  Auto-detction is not supported in this mode.  Also, set default treatment of ISO/UDF bridge filesystem to UDF (if you've got long filenames you'd want them to show up instead of nasty 8.3 mangled legacy filenames).
