Bitsetting Help
« on: July 29, 2006, 03:48:00 PM »

let me just start by saying i plan to order a pioneer 111d soon (thats the best burner right?), but wanted to try to use my old drive first. well i can change DVD+R to dvd-rom but it doesnt have the option to change DVD+R dl to DVD-ROM. if i change DVD+R to dvd-rom will it also burn DVD+R dl as dvd-rom?

You can crossflash your 111D into a 111L. Other than giving you automatic bitsetting. It give you DVD-RAM write. If you don't care about DVD-RAM then get the buffalo 8.25 firmware. The INT is for internal (in computer) and the EXT is external (USB/Firewire).

Piomeer is pretty good but not really the best. Anyway the Pioneer has a firmware that automatically sets the bitsetting on the +DL but I'm not sure if it does the plus +R as well.

If you google Dangerous Brothers and look around and you'll find it.

Actually, of the current gen burners Pioneer is considered one of the best.  NEC has stepped down a notch or two with their last couple of burners.  Even Benq's latest model seems to be somewhat iffy (the 1640, 1650 and 1655 are great burners though).

So do you need to flash aftermarket firmware on a pioneer 111d to get it to auto-bitset?

I asked here and was told the pioneer autobitsets by default?
