i banned forever all open tray msgs changing my pot laser from 4.3 to 3.8

I wouldn't recommend tweaking the laser. May work OK for a while till the drive dies...

But your choice...

maybe try reflashing the drive. hex edit in the key instead of using kdx if you did it that way.

All my backups ran fine with SAM drive, then after a month i started getting the "Open Tray" message. I used Memorex DL 2x. I keep my backups clean. Do I need to adjust the pot?

DO NOT TWEAK THE LASER!!! Mine had a problem with the Open Tray on Backups but Originals would play. I have tweaked my share of Thompsons so I thought I would check to see what my Samsung was set at. 3.4.

So I tweaked it down to 3.2 to be carefull and I get OPEN TRAY no matter what I put in. So I thought no problem, I will just put it back to 3.4. NO DICE, OPEN TRAY ON EVERYTHING.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix it, please let me know. I have flashed it with xtreme 4.0b. I have tried to reflash it but I suspect it isn't seeing the 800 stealth disc, so MTKFLASH never sees the port.

I am very thankful for all of your help in the past and the future to come.
