Burning Xbox 1 Sdg60fb, Backups
« on: July 14, 2006, 12:08:00 PM »

please don't flame me, i'm serious about what i'm doing, i'm not a complete noob, and i've been working on this for months, and would desparetly like to see some success in what i'm doing, i have read many tuts and 100s of threads on xboxhacker.net regarding this issue and YES STILL HAVE QUESTIONS AND NEED HELP
if you understand this, then please read on, thank you

all of this concerns the xbox 1 fw hack, with the sdg-605b, (not 360 fw hack), although most of the questions are irrelevant to that particular hack, so even those who have done 360 hack are knowledable enough to help me

i figured out how to get video and game partitions cleanly and correctly, with your help and I re-read some threads, THANK YOU

HOWEVER, i have yet again new problems dealing with the bitsettings/booktype of my dvds that i've burned, and some new questions concerning the layerbreak with your program

my typing is thick and my words long, so please bear with me, but once you've read it all you will fully understand what i'm trying to tell you, thank you

what type of media am I using?
memorex dvd+r DL, burned on a memorex dvd dual writer

I read somewhere online that clone-cd is supposed to automatically burn dvd-rom booktype automatically for all dvd+r dls, however my first burn with clone cd (no it didn't fail this time!) yielded me another unknown disc and the reason is because it didn't burn it in dvd-rom booktype but in dvd+r format, my sdg605b could not recoqnize the disc, although my memorex pc drive coudl as it is a pc drive that reads everything

so i researched booktypes and my burner and found out that my burner is capable of dvd-rom booktypes, i have nero premium 7, and i changed the recorder settings to book-type, however the problem with nero is that it did not recognize my image.ooo file or image.dvd file I created with your program, so i renamed the image.ooo file to image.iso, and then nero recoqnized it and burn it accordingly, I put the finished copy in my xbox and it still didn't boot it up as a game, but rather as a dvd with the video partition on the disc, however my xbox recoqnized it! so it was indeed booktype: dvd-rom

then i did some thinking and realized what an important file i left out in the burning of my new copy that might have caused its unsuccess: the .dvd file, all i did was rename the image.ooo file to image.iso, and ignored the .dvd file when i burned it with nero, so im thinking, doesn't that .dvd file contain information about the layerbreak, and isn't that essential to making a working copy??? the problem is i have no idea how to implement a layebreak or custom layerbreak with nero, since it doesn't read .dvd files

what i need a program that can burn booktype AND read image.ooo or image.dvd files

so let's say i find a program that can do both, or you might be able to reccomend me one, i am still confused about the layerbreak situation, i took some pics of the dvd mini info pro with ur program on the 2 backups i made and the original retail copy, all have different layerbreaks!! the first backup i made with succesful partitions was created with ur concacteation program and it game me a .dvd file with a layerbreak of: 1913775
HOWEVER: the original retail game has a layerbreak of: 6831 , isn't it supposed to be 6831, should i change the layerbreak in the .dvd file? i got 1913775 from the .dvd file generated with your program, what use does this layerbreak serve?

and finally the layerbreak i got from the nero copy that i didn't use layerbreak information, and skipped the .dvd file since its unreadable in nero is: 1814783, i assume its some kind of default layerbreak since i didn't specify one,( even though i don't know how)

so my 2 big problems is finding a prog that lets me specify a layerbreak, specifying a CORRECT layerbreak, and having that prog also burn at booktype: dvd-rom

here are some pics:

please help me, i've wasted 4 discs already and i'm running out of money to make this work, THANK YOU!

new pics from dvd info pro, i changed my blank media of dvd+r dl to booktype of dvd-rom
however i'm not comfortable in this working still, since dvd info pro , is INFO only reads crap, i don't think it SETS CRAP like sets booktypes, only pulls up info about it, well i did these things, will it burn dvd-rom in clone cd now ? since that is the only prog i could find that reads layerbreaks from a .dvd file

my memorex drive

my blank media inspection of dvd+r dl (memorex dl discs)

me changing booktype to dvd-rom from dvd+r dl of that memorex media

ok i think i have this changing booktype thing down pact, i read several threads confirming what i was thinking, and followed those steps in dvd pro info

however as you can see in the pic, even though i changed it to dvd-rom, pro info still inspects the media as dvd+r, supposed to do that?

and now my final concern so i don't burn a 5th coaster, is which layerbreak to set it too:
the one that carrnzp's concactead prog gave me of: 1913775
or the original retail game's layerbreak i inspected with carrnzp's tool: 6831

What Memorex burner is it?  Please give the model number.

I have a Memorex F16 and it turns out it is just a rebadged Lite-On SOHW 1633.  Before I could bitset/booktype, I had to update to the latest firmware. Do some research on your drive.  If it is in fact a rebadged Lite-On, you MUST use the Lite-On Bitsetting Utilitiy to set your booktype/bitset.

This is specific to Lite-On drives only.  The booktype is stored in the memory of the drive.  So, you can use the Lite-On bitsetting utility to change the booktype, close out of the utility and the drive will write all +R discs to DVD-ROM using any program until you change the bitset/booktype again or if the drive loses power.

1.  Research about your drive
2.  Update the firmware
3.  Use Lite-On Bitsetting Utility if it's a Lite-On drive
4.  Use CloneCD after setting the booktype

Good  luck.
