After trying for days, I have simply exhausted all of my resources and ideas for getting a Xbox360 disc to rip.

Maybe I am going about this wrong but here is my steps:

1. load my hotswap dvd into my dl burner drive.
2. open wxripper and select drive.
3. stop drive
4. eject, replace with x360 game, load (through button in wxripper)
5. after it spins up.....(pressing spin drive)
6. click find magic number

the problem is constantly saying that the hotswap disc is too small......when i know it is 7.95gb (8.5bil bytes)

the game I am trying it on is Ghost recon advanced warfighter [ntsc]

any help is greatly appreciated.  also if my steps are completely off.....a refinement on an experts part would be wonderful:)  thanks in advance,

I see your problem, lol, its quite simple. Your not suppose to press SPIN DISC before pressing find magic number. Because when you put the 360 game in and press spin disc, it will reset the TOC and you will not be able to obtain the magic number from the hotswap dvd any more. I also see another problem, you pressed eject on wxripper, that is not how you do the swap. You either have to press the emergency button (use a needle in the front of your drive, there will be a small hole) and it that doesn't allow you to access the disc, you will have to unscrew the top of the drive so you can hotswap. DO NOT PRESS EJECT ON WXRIPPER OR THE ACTUAL DRIVE DURING ANY OF THE STEPS OR YOU WILL FAIL. very important =)  Follow these steps instead...

1.) Load hotswap disc in drive.
2.) Open wxripper and select drive
3.) Press Find magic number
4.) Press stop
5.) do the actual hotswap/emergency button and switch discs without pressing eject on wxripper or the drive itself
6.) Press spin disc and wait like 10 secs
7.) Then dump your game

If you get CRC errors on any of the first 3 lines, you will need to save layout and open it in notepad and change the first 3 lines starting with all D instead of any C.

Here's the steps once you have the layout file saved and you want to load it.

1.) Load hotswap disc in drive.
2.) Open wxripper and select drive
3.) Load layout file (no need to find magic number since all that does is finds the layout which you already have)
4.) Press stop
5.) do the actual hotswap without pressing eject
6.) Press spin disc and wait like 10 secs
7.) Then dump your game

If you are still confused, please PM (I check very often) and I will send you a very clear guide step by step on how to do the hotswap process and the whole backup procedure. I would post a link here, but this forum does not allow links outside of xbox-scene.com

do you mind sharing the best possible hot swap disc. Specifically the version (standard/deluxe) and NTSC and type (wide/normal).

It doesnt matter what hotswap dvd you pick, even if it's just a data dvd+R DL (which is what I used) as long as its a disc close to 8GB, it can be 7.92 or whatever. If you plan to use a data DVD like me, try to fill the disc up as much as possible (near or over 8 gigs) if a movie, then get one at least 7.5 gigs

ok heres what i can do i get the game saved to the hardrive but how do i use  dvdinfo and  ss merger to get the security sectors it will only read the  dvd drives not a dump on my c drive   can u help plz

i tried this with pc drive, no errors and still get dvd too small. i also tried the layout save advice, this only creates a 250meg game size
