Anyone Succeeded In Backing Up Far Cry ?
« on: June 28, 2006, 04:47:00 AM »

I have been having trouble too.
3
I have tried backing up my copy of far cry as well as motogp2, but I am not able to burn the DVDs.
SS Merger seems to merge the image with the SS ok, but when I run clonecd or dvddecrypter, they both fail the burn about half way through.

Anybody got any ideas?

well before we go and blame farcry, you guys may be at the point to where you cant burn any 360 games... you guys need to list your specific burners you tried as well with media. If it matches up in green in ss merger and you can browse the image with wx360 and see all the files, then it's not the image, its your burner/media...

I got it to rip/burn just fine.  I used a MSI dvd burner to rip the full disc with wxripper and i followed the geebee's tutorial from gettin the ss.  I burned it wth clone cd on a "FUJIFILM" + dl disc in the pioneer 111D 1.06 fw.  smile.gif

Word of advice i'm not sure that it this is 100% accurate but the discs seem to rip much much better if there is not ANY scratches.  I think its because its reading and ripping all of the sectors in a different way then the dvd drives conventionally reads discs.  That may be a problem if ur getting crc errors.

Another thing if you are getting crc errors then you shoud create a layout file for that particular disc.  find out where it messes up then change the copy and dummy settings.  Like if it esses up at 245009 on the 3rd copy portion then maybe create a dummy for the next 50000 then start copying again to the finish.  Iv'e had to do that fora few scratched discs of mine sad.gif but it worked smile.gif.

Well there is a lesson to be learned here and also to keep trying.......i have managed to back up my farcry.....and the reason i have so many coasters is due to certain parts of guides NOT specifying how important certain operations are, they can make a burn successfull or unsuccessful.....when i was using iso buster to rip the disc i was exploding the menu right down to where it says "track" instead of right clicking on the item that says "cd"....if you explode the menu so you can see the track it will still let you burn the disc but it wont work, in all fairness the guide does say "click the item called cd at top" it doesnt however mention how imperitive it is to do this, i now have my game backed up and working.

Just out of interest, if i wanted to back up the backup, could i do a disc to disc copy or would i have to use the image again ?? i might consider having two copies of it as i drop a blank disc the other day and it split into two halves !!!!....maybe it was a one off but i dont fancy having to open up the box to get another backup.
